Re: SOME AVAILABLE! [iminime] Serial Killer Movie (7) - Detective 'M' & 'S'

Like many of the collectors here who love their custom figures, I once again took advantage of the talents of fellow Freaks member Evilface to do my stands for my set. I've just gotten so addicted to his wonderful work on these stand decals, I often look forward to them almost as much as the custom figures themselves!

Hey Emarae - I was wondering where you got the sweater for Somerset?

Definitely makes that figure look pimp!

Re: SOME AVAILABLE! [iminime] Serial Killer Movie (7) - Detective 'M' & 'S'

Seems like both would have a neck attachment, or that neither would be glued. Seems like you're gonna have to get a neck joint and mod it yourself. Is the head drilled so you could insert a neck plug?

I was thinking the same thing as well. A head with no way to attach it seemed a little odd to me. It sure feels like the neck adapter is glued onto the head with no hat. There is a hole under the neck (within the neck) where one could fit, so at least that's good.

Yes exactly it's quite simple just get a TT neck adapter and glue it to the hatted head. This is the least complicated fix to the set. If you don't have a spare TrueType laying around just get a loose adapter from toy anxiety they are about 4 bucks.

No, I definitely don't have one. I checked out Toy Anxiety, but the only loose neck joint I found was this:

Would this work? (Sorry, but I don't have anything to compare it to, as the other one is glued to the head and I can't see the top.)

Thanks!

Dont try and pull the adapter out of your hatless head it might damage it, yes all Denny did is glue in an adapter, and he did not include a spare addapter for the hatted head when you get one you will have to glue it in, the one you posted on TA would work for sure but looks to be gone,

check out Urban Samurai Hobbies, Black Ops Toys, War Toys, Monkey Depot... all part out stuff Im sure one of em will have an adapter!

I never think about it because I always have spare parts but i do suppose if you just don't have a supply bin it's a bit of an SOL feeling to get a head with no adapter on it, too bad they didnt make those spare heads built in with adapters.

You got the unhatted head glued to a neck joint? and a hatted head with no such joint? Thats weird... generally all of them were assembled the other way round

I received the same thing. I guess I should contact Denny.

Re: SOME AVAILABLE! [iminime] Serial Killer Movie (7) - Detective 'M' & 'S'

Well honestly I dont think it was done as a rule or so then, as I saw most sets of people here having the neck joint pasted to the hatted sculpt. Ill recomment Denny not to glue the neck post in subsequent releases, so that they can be used by switching sculpts on them instead of having to look for a new post...

That would have been helpful. :wink1:

Kind of upseting to be honest, considering the amount spent on them.

Thanks.

That adapter at TA was gone because I picked it up. I figured it was only a couple of bucks if it was wrong. Hopefully it will work out.

Thanks for the tip, I appreciate it.

I dont know if you are aware but Ive seen a LOT of custom artists like Feng and more who tend to glue the neck adapter to the sculpt. And its a practice very commonly followed by some Asian artists/customisers.
Something I never understood why... :dunno

Nope, I definitely wasn't aware. It makes even less sense when a second head is made and included. I can understand if there's only one head though.

Anybody got a link to a site for 1/6 police badges?...any help would be helpful....:)

Re: [iminime] Serial Killer Movie (7) - Detective 'M' & 'S'

Emarae I wanted to ask how did the normal HT neck connector fit into your DX sculpt for the Lucius Fox bash you did... was it a smooth and good fit?

You know what? I have a few of those boot leg TT bodies that I bought for other customs I did and I had some extra neck connectors that came with them. I figured since the base body was the bootleg TT on the Se7en set, that the neck connectors from the bootleg TT would give me no problems. I'm guessing the regular TT neck connectors are the same, but I haven't actually compared. Anyways, the way I did it worked out just fine and was a snug fit that didn't even require glue. I'm gonna compare and check right now for you to see if there is a diffference, etc. I'll post again later with my findings...

Okay, so yeah, I did a quick Lucius Fox bash with extra parts I had laying around in my extra parts bin. I didn't want to waste the beautiful extra Somerset head that came with the DX set I got. I may still go in and add more white to his hair and change out the tie and shirt someday to something more colorful, but it's not a big deal to me. I know there are plans for Denny to do a Fox as well, but I'm good with my own bashed version...

NECK CONNECTOR TO BODIES
Now, I looked into the neck connector situation, and it will all depend on what body and neck connector you end up using. The bootleg TTs used for the Se7en set are based on the TT Narrow shoulder bodies, so the neck connectors from either of those should be fine. I even tried a neck connector from my Obama TT which is basically the Advanced TT and that seemed to plug into the Narrow Shoulder or bootleg TT too, though a tad more snug.

NECK CONNECTOR TO HEAD
All the real TT neck connectors were loose going into my extra Somerset head sculpt, but with a little bit of superglue they will be fine. With my bootleg connectors, they were a little bit better, but not as snug as I originally stated or thought. Again, just a little bit of super glue will do the trick.

I had some extra neck connectors that had smaller plugs/ holes, so be careful what you end up using. I'm not sure where I got these, probably from some of the Headplay heads I picked up in the past or some older TT bodies, but if you see in the pic (the 4 on the left of the pic), the plug/ holes are smaller. The 2 on the right are bigger and are from the bootleg TT bodies. As I stated earlier, the regular Narrow Shoulder TT neck connectors should be fine too, though the plugs/ holes on them appear very slightly smaller.

Re: [iminime] Serial Killer Movie (7) - Detective 'M' & 'S'

Thanks for taking the time to post that emarae. From what I'm noticing in my own experience, that's the basic standard: Knock off= bigger holes, TT smaller holes.

So the deal is even though it's snug, the TT connectors will fit on the knock off bodies fine and have perfect articulation. But the knock off connectors are way too loose fitting on the TT bodies. The head just flops around. Hence a little snug still works perfectly, but too loose requires mods(cotton or glue trick) to hold a pose. Or even stay upright for that matter.

Re: SOME AVAILABLE! [iminime] Serial Killer Movie (7) - Detective 'M' & 'S'

Dude, the sweater comes with the figure! Did you not get yours or something?? Better reach out to Denny,

Nope - no sweater here...

Between that, the neck joint, and the really loose bodies, I'm pretty disappointed.

Re: [iminime] Serial Killer Movie (7) - Detective 'M' & 'S'
