The Big Guy : The powerhouse. They are usually unflinchingly loyal, and often they are the largest member of The Team and more effective in combat than anyone else. The Gentle Giant who you don't want to push too far. Outside of battle he is the calming element in the group, offering both experience and wisdom, or just able to pull two others apart easily. Superman.
Mentor : A more experienced advisor or confidante to a young, inexperienced character, particularly to a hero. Even though this character is better skilled, faster and more experienced than the protagonist, they aren't the hero. Sometimes a shellshocked veteran. Wonder Woman.
The Young/Funny guy : A character whose inexperience with the world presented by the show lets them act as the audience surrogate. Their antics often act as comic relief. Flash/Green Lantern(?).
The Smart Guy : This is The team member who will always be prepared. Expect some fancy talk and techno babble from this character. Because their role is about ideas they initially leave the action stuff to the others. They build and repair devices for The Team, and hack in to steal from and sabotage the enemy. As you push towards pure sci-fi they may have an innate higher reasoning capacity than normal humans, either because they're of an alien race or they're robotic and have technology literally as part of their bodies. Cyborg.

Obviously this is a crude breakdown with lots of generalizations. The characters' behaviours will often overlap and some are a mixture of two archetypes. But I was surprised with how well it fit. I didnt include GL here, as I combined the "Young Guy" and the "funny guy". In the next JL movie, I see him taking that role.
I am really excited for the team building part for JL.
