I'd be happy if it was ROTJ level goodness. For me, I think RO will still be better than TLJ.

Wrong. All wrong. Blade Runner 2049 is better than Blade Runner (DC).

[Gilroy's] RO was safe and mediocre. Forgettable characters, boring plot, stale score. There's not a chance in hell a Rian Johnson film won't top a made-by-committee popcorn movie.

Certainly hope you're right.

As far as RO, I know its not everyone's cup of tea. It doesn't have very interesting or memorable characters, I didn't connect with any of them. Weak hero, weak villain... which is usually death for me. But for some reason, for me, the overall outweighs the individual bits. The movie itself felt and moved like ANH. There was just something about it. You either connected to that or not. I can't argue that its a good movie when broken into pieces. It has all kinds of problems. Even the way it was made. But overall, when I watch it, I really do love the ride.

Snikt got a point BUT ESB is much harder to surpass in quality than BR was so 2049 didn’t really have to super acheive but thankfully it did.

People thinking other SW movies are better than ESB isn’t anything new anyways.

My nephews and nieces already think the PT are better than all 3 OT movies and i’m sure lots of other people who grew up with the PT feel the same way.

So yeah i’m ready for the TLJ > ESB crowd lol

I go back and forth on whether I think ESB has been dethroned by the theatrical cut of FOTR. Sometimes I think ESB is best, sometimes FOTR. It's hard for to imagine a film (especially another SW movie) dethroning *both* of them but hey there's no harm in trying. As long as TLJ is at least as good as ROTJ then I'll be happy.

haha who's saying that. They're just trying to confuse everyone now for ****s and giggles. I'm pretty sure that was an old scene given that Henry's face still had the extra lean look which he didn't have when he said 'do you bleed' and tossed batman aside. He was still in good shape mind you, but you can see where his face is even more tight vs all the reshoots where a little bit of fat has crept back in, including the VS steppenwolf scenes.

But of course nothing comparable fatfleck's puffy mug

Do you know right before the movie started I thought too myself....

Now that my first viewing jitters are out of the way and i’ve had time to evaluate with others the movies strengths and weaknesses I was now in rhythm to fully relax and just enjoy the saturday morning cartoon aspects of the narrative and pace.

Instead all I ended up doing was having to endure the walk of shame back to my car lol
