Belts can be used over anything my man. Superhero costumes should be mostly bold fashion statements. Leave practicality to street thugs like Batman.

I was a Marvel guy as a kid, mainly due to the “halo effect” of their SF adaptations such as Star Wars, Star Trek, Logan’s Run, Man From Atlantis, POTA, 2001 etc.

The more “sophisticated” fare of DKR, Year One and A Death in the Family drew me to DC as a kidult.

Sooo...
Just finished reading All Star Superman.
Not bad, actually. A couple of silly issues (especially the Super-Lois for a day issue), but overall a fun read. I can see why people like it.

Justice league has brought in $481 million worldwide, should cross $500 by tomorrow. Not too bad for a 10 day aahaul. Some people are loving it no matter how much haters slam it

Isn't the movie still $200M short of breaking even?

Man those old gods do look phenomenal, and their designs were also great.

So this is where that WW Ares helmet went.

Killing Joke was trash there I said it.

Growing up I was devoted to Marvel but I did use DC comics to wipe my butt with lol

DC Gods yawn.....

Killing Joke is ok, I guess, but yeah, I don't see why it's so highly praised. Maybe I have to give it another read.

It has as much to do with the art as it does the story... Beautiful art in that one, the definitive look for Joker, a huge event that is still felt in the pages today, and probably the closest we will get to where the Joker really came from make this a must read Batman story even if its not one of the greatest.

yeah it's a "flop" like some here are saying- :rotfl

It's likely to max out at $700M worldwide, The Avengers of the DC universe...that's a very embarrassing showing. It'll lose out to a solo Thor movie and barely beat a solo Doctor Strange movie.

What we were supposed to get in JL:
"The world is still in mourning over the death of the Superman"
"Where is the Gotham Bat? The masked vigilante has been a NO SHOW."
*Coverage on increase crime + Lex in Arkham*

Instead we got:
"Local woman claims aliens probed her husband.":lol

At this pace it may eek out $700M-$750M worldwide. Which ordinarily wouldn't be terrible, but this is DC's big guns and they were no doubt expecting at least $1B at the box office. The director swap and extensive reshoots ballooned the budget (seemingly all for naught), so I don't think Warner will be able to put a positive spin on it. However, despite the doomsayers and headlines projecting $50M-$100M losses, I do think Warner will make back their money and even turn a tidy profit, especially after DVD sales are factored in, just not the $500M+ profit they were likely counting on. But that won't be reported on for a while when Warner issues its financials. There's also licensing and merchandising, which may bring in another $100M at least, but that's a different business unit.

I didn't quite like except when a few select artists where drawing it. Same foes for the new rebirth one, had they given him a straight belt and round belt buckle, they'd have a definitive trunkless look.

I also hope they bring back the undies, tho.

I kind of like this more modernized costume for Superman. For the most part I like how they've handled the cinematic costume, but it would be interesting to see how the raised collar and belt would translate. Might work, might not. I don't think they will ever go back to the underwear on the outside. Just too easy a target.

The old gods: Ares, Artemis and Zeus

Wow, the bodybuilder physiques really work for the Greek Gods. Probably the only time you will ever see this kind of visual choice (you don't really have to worry as much about acting ability), so talk about inspired. Too bad they were glazed over in the theatrical cut, and basically we could only make out that the Old Gods were larger than mortals. I hope they are better featured in the DVD release because that sequence could have easily been 2 to 3 times as long.
