Yes and it just goes to show how underdeveloped a character that Steppenwolf was. Literally all we knew about him was that he was bad and carried an axe. Not much to go on with regard to things that might make him "afraid" so they had him overreact to losing his axe. And considering that that ended up being his downfall they really should have made "fear" a more prominent theme beyond just the one throwaway line about the burglar in the opening scene.

Compare that to how elegantly "be mindful of your surroundings" came full circle in Batman Begins (or even "I can do this all day/I'm with you to the end of the line") in the Cap films.

JL fans are just suffering from a delusional fever.

They think because Avatar only opened with 77 million and went on to make over 2 billion that JL will have that same trajectory lol

The first time Batman encountered or knew of a Parademon was in the opening scene, right? And he somehow knew that: A) he was a scout; and B) he sensed people based on fear from that single encounter, with no other context or history?

The thug guy actually jumped across several buildings to track down Batman and the Parademon, to see what would happen, instead of running off and escaping, which also struck me as odd. Also, I had just finished watching said thug in the terrific Netflix show Mindhunters, so it was jarring to see him hamming it up like he was. So, I was confused all over. Good way to start out a movie.

Yes, the Parademon leaves a huge "clue" on a wall for Batman to use his detective skills :lol

"Alfred, based on this green gunk I can confirm that this was an alien scout, who hunts its prey based on fear, and is probably working for a much more powerful and generic looking alien who wields a large ax, and can transport himself near giant powerful boxes that can combine to turn the earth into a hellscape. I can also confirm that those boxes can be used to rejuvenate a dead Kryptonian for some reason. Hurry chum, there's no time to lose!"

And how on earth could Batman have ever figured out that the parademons were attracted to fear? "You know Alfred it appears that every single victim that is attacked by these alien insect cyborgs with fangs and red glowing eyes is scared out of their minds."

"No ****!"

:lol

How can you question how Batman can figure something out...Clearly the answer is Prep Time™ :lecture

Oh no my axe was frozen then broken what do I do!

I’ve only conquered hundreds of worlds.

Who dafuq is this guy, Linus from Peanuts!

Eh they were kind of establishing that he was getting his ass handed to him...especially by Superman. But maybe his Axe would help him win the fight...It's like a thug with a gun in a fight with a few gang members without guns. He has this great equalizer and could win...but suddenly his gun jams...let the pants soiling commence :panic:

The rest is dumb though. They needed to set up the fear theme more. Or maybe just get scarecrow in there to gas em all and confuse the **** out of everyone. Or ****...throw some Yellow Lanterns in the mix.

Now I wonder if Batman even knew that fear attracted parademons. Maybe he just liked terrifying people on rooftops for the fun of it and the parademon showing up was simply a happy accident.

Well if you go by M united, Gaspar and crows Batman was on the hunt for parademons from the start and well i’m category 3 retarded lol

True, lol. But in all seriousness even the MCU gets stuff like this right so it's very much amiss to say that JL was just another Avengers or MCU film. There should have been some overriding theme that permeated the narrative beyond "heroes team up to fight a generic bad guy." Not even the silliest MCU flicks were *that* shallow. It's like WB decided that plots were their downfall so for JL they just took it completely out of the equation. This might actually be the first film in history where the MacGuffin actually IS the plot. The end.

Yousa point is well seen this is nutsin.

Hell even BF and B&R had underlying mechanics to give the narrative some semblance of a purpose to go from point A to Z.

Two Face a justice system equal of Batman now out for retribution.

Riddler wanting acceptance then feeling betrayed and going for revenge and a power trip.

Robin’s rebellion.

Batgirl’s dedication.

Alfred’s secret plan.

Poison Ivy’s attack on the upper class.

Mr. Freeze’s wife.

Jesus Khev, JL worse than B&R I never that that would be even remotely possible lol
