Re: Keaton Batman

Big News and Update From Shawn!

"There's no real limit on how many I'm willing to do. I've made these for years, and hadn't planned on stopping lol I'm either doing them for the Freaks, or I'm doing them for eBay. Doesn't matter to me, but I do prefer the group thing/direct sales.

I've got all 12 names, thanks for doing that for me. If you like you can just post my email over there, they can contact me directly. I guess I could make $125.00 the standard member rate for the Freaks. But if standardizing it like that violates the etiquette of the group agreement, let me know.

Thanks for being patient while I experimented with the different capes. It's more work peeling, ripping and shaving this fuzz crap off the pleather but it's worth it. I've sent a few shots of different poses, too. Nothing really dynamic, but I think people are sometimes apprehensive of how posable a figure in a rubber suit can be. I think my figures are probably more articulate than Keaton was" ;)
Cheers,
Shawn

New Pics. This Figure is absolutely Beautiful! Love the Cape!

Re: Keaton Batman

Paul, has Shawn come up with a 3rd cape or is the textured cape in these pics the same as before just modified to hang better? Looks nicer than the first go around.

CAPE 1

CAPE 2

CAPE 3 ??

Also, now with the info out, is Shawn going to process as he gets paid, or is the list still in order and we should wait for him to contact us or how should those of us who haven't paid or been contacted proceed? Thanks for being the middle man on this, really, really appreciate your efforts.

Re: Keaton Batman

I still prefer Cape One. That vinyl just looks more leathery to me, and more supple. I still don't like how stiff Cape Three looks, coming from Bats's shoulder.

Re: Keaton Batman

I don't know if Cape 1 and Cape 3 are the same or different. Cape 1 was very thin as I recall. I love Cape 3 and will go with that. It seems to have more weight to it and can be manipulated really well with posing IMHO.

I think if you guys have any more questions about your orders, you should address them to Shawn directly. I would guess because he is rolling out 3 or so figs at a time the processing will remain in order they were received by him.

Cheers!

Re: Keaton Batman

man i wish I could get one of these. Great looking figure!

It's a shame (for me anyway) that so much work seems to have gone into the face sculpt, the sculpt of the cowl and body armour (not to mention the putting together of it all) yet the one thing that keeps jumping out at me (although I am ridiculously picky when it comes to details) is that the shape of the cowl where it joins the chest/logo/shoulders is wrong.

Seems like such a simple thing to have missed considering everything else that he seems to have got right.

.................wouldn't stop me from getting one though ;)

Re: Keaton Batman

I'm very Happy with it. Couldn't be happier...

I may pinch fold the cape at the cowl edge... but that is all I will ever do with it. Superb figure, best I've seen.

Re: Keaton Batman

I'm very happy too. Darren, that same thing had occurred to me, but if you look at how the figure is done, looks to me like the slight film inaccuracy was done to open up the shoulder articulation, and it's so minimally off, I think this is great, we get both articulation and great appearance. I'm very anxious to get this figure. I've contacted Shaw about the cape situation so I'll know what to specify with my order. Right now I'm going to go with the latest we've seen, it has texture and hangs well. The head is just so fantastic, I'm loving it. One of the best 1/6 figure heads I've ever seen.

Agreed. Articulation is key, as Shawn said his figure prolly has MORE articulation than Keaton. I love his new shots, LOVE the Cape and remember you are looking at an unfutzed cape. I'm sure Wor-Gar, the futz-king around here, can address that better than me...

We are getting a helluva deal here IMO. Don't really think second guessing and nitpicking will be very helpful at this point.

Again, all you guys please deal directly with Shawn when your orders are being processed. I'm sure he'll be happy to address any and all concerns re: Cape Issues.

Good luck Guys! Can't wait to get mine.

Shawn's Bats is gonna blow my Rojas' Bats out of the water.

He looks sooooo cool. I can't wait.:monkey5
I still want the thin vinyl cape in picture 1 though.

I hope futzing can fix the wrinkles coming donw from his shoulders out to his hands, not sure why there is a crease there. Overally the cape looks great and folded over the shoulders looks like the film promos, very cool.

And you should know Coco! Best Custom Keaton I have ever seen. :monkey5

Again, you guys deal with Shawn directly as he processes your orders. I guess doing so with your payment is the best time to specify which Cape you want if indeed there is any difference. I recommend you attach a pic of the figure with the cape you want too.

Yeah, that's exactly what I did ten minutes ago, sent Shawn pic #1. Good idea.

I also asked Shawn about future '89 Batman figures such as Bob. I asked him if there was anything we as a group could do to help make it happen.
I was thinking about contacting Andy to see if he'd be interested in doing a commisioned Bob sculpt for me and then casting a very limited run. I thought maybe Shawn could scare up the right material for his clothes.

Re: Keaton Batman

Personally, I won't be "getting nuts" with anymore 89 figs. This and the Custom V2 Joker is more than I could ever wish for.

The shape is a tad off but the cowl in the first pick isn't from the first Batman it's from Batman Returns. The cowl was thinner and less rounded in that film. Shawn also does a Returns figure that I've had for years. I personally like the returns cowl look better than the 89 film. Here's a quick pick of SHawn's Returns Keaton.

You mean you wouldn't get Bob if someone made him?
And you call yourself an '89 Batman fan.:lol

Another good point. As maulfan also "pointed" out, minor cowl design changes allowed for proper shoulder articulation. I'm sure this was carefully thought through beforehand. To do as Darren suggests would inhibit the shoulder joint from working correctly.

No, I wouldn't. Just don't care for that character in the grand scheme of things. There are other characters I might be more interested in; Grissom, Axis Jack Napier, an Alfred. And yes, I DO consider myself an 89 Batman fan. Got a problem with that? :lol

Btw, Every 89 Batman fan also knows this:

"Never rub another man's rhubarb." :lol

Re: Keaton Batman

Man, Shawn did a nice job on the Returns Batman, but I have to say, I don't dig that armor style in this format, it worked ok in film, possibly because of how often the cape covered it, that and Burton's love for very low lighting, but in figure form, 1989 is the way to go in my opinion.

Re: Keaton Batman

Yea, thought the Returns suit design was horrible. Also watched Returns all the way through last night for the first time in years. Man, I was bored watching it :monkey2 So many problems with it as well. Batmobile does some silly things.

Re: Keaton Batman

Yeah, definitely prefer the 89 in pretty much all aspects. Returns is decent, and Devito is excellent as the Penguin. But overall its just not as good.
