Re: Keaton Batman

Batman night tonight, picked up '89 and Forever 2-Disc sets today, probably take me all night to get through all of '89 and the bonus materials, but very anxious to check those out, especially since I was so young when it came out, if anything behind the scenes had been mentioned at the time I wouldn't have ever caught it.

Oh, you'll love it Sean. I got that disc a while back and spent damn near all day watching the extras on Batman and Returns. It was a great night, really nostalgic. I was a huge Batman fan when I was a kid... I had the toys, ate the cereal, had joker shoelaces and collected the cards... I was all about Batman in 89. :rock

Re: Keaton Batman

Very cool stuff on this 2 disc set; wild to see DaVinci's bat man sketch that inspired the character. Watching the actual film right now, and man what a difference in quality from the crap version I had before. Thanks for all the info Paul and everyone else that chimed in on the 2 disc set, definitely worth upgrading.

Re: Keaton Batman

Mine shipped Thursday! :D:cool:

Also watched a lot of 89 DVD extras, in the section Beyond Batman there was a feature on the suit. What we are getting is damn close if not ON!

e.g. Front body armor piece, latex sprayed cape, they used different capes in the film, Nike trainer boots, etc. This is indeed the ultimate Keaton.

There were at least 3 guys who played Batman, a Karate guy, a Ballet guy, etc. The legs on this fig were nearly an exact match on some of the Film Stills in the DVD.

Wow that's fast. Good to hear it though. That means mine isn't too far behind.

Same here! I spent hours watching the extra DVD, it was nice to know alot of the facts that I didn't know about. I picked the special edition for fairly cheap too, like $15.

1989 Batman rules!

Re: Keaton Batman

Went out today looking for the DVD and couldn't find it :monkey2

Oh well, there's always tomorrow :rock

Re: Keaton Batman

Looks like he's using the same parts... but to me the one we have going here looks a bit more refined. And is coming in waaaay cheaper.

Not quite the all the same parts/suit...spear gun hand, pleather body suit instead of lycra (which looks better/more accurate to me but probably not as poseable) and the cape looks like a better match to the movie cape material.

Here is another of his auctions with some better Batman pics but the Joker figure is a joke.

That said I don't think it is worth that much more than the deal that Shawn is giving us.

Here is another auction for a silver version that really shows off the pleather bodysuit and how it works with the rubber pieces. I really like the leather body suit instead of the lycra suit as it blends together better.

Damn, that is a nice custom. The cape looks better and the pleather body suit blends with the rubber parts. Very nice and tempting . . . .

After reviewing the 89 DVD it seems the batsuit (bodysuit) was a Lycra type material, a stretchy cloth, certainly not leather type.

Check it out on the Beyond Batman extra feature, the Batsuit. As for the Cape, they used different fabrics for different scenes. Walking scenes a sprayed latex, more acrobatic scenes a lighter material that would flow and my favorite Cape was the leather like Cape he wore in the Batcave. What we are getting is very similar.

PS. I MAY be getting my fig today, Monday latest.

Re: Keaton Batman

Thanks for pointing that out Paul, I didn't even catch the second menu of features on the disc :) I was dissappointed there was no details on the suit itl I watched this, very cool. It's also cool how Shawn's design follows the true suit in only having sparse piece of armor on top of a body suit.

I didn't say that the movie costume had a leather undersuit, that would have been way to hot and restrictive. There are different types of lycra though and the pleather suit on the one custom looks pretty flexible and is more seamless around the rubber parts (both in color and thickness) than the type of material/color of Shawn's lycra suit from the pictures I have seen so far. It also looks like he doesn't use the lower rubber pieces for the hips/legs due to the material of the suit. I also prefer the look of the material for the cape used on this other custom as well but once again it is personal preference that might change after I get the figure in hand. It is hard to tell by pictures (different lighting, poses, etc.), I would love to see both side by side to do a comparison though.

I am looking forward to new/better pictures of the suit when everyone starts getting them.

Edit: Added comparision shots of the Shawn's suit to the eBay auction suit with added light to see the suit seams better.

Re: Keaton Batman

Thanks Natrix, very cool of you. Yeah, I know you didn't say that, I didn't say you did. :D Just pointing out the actual Batsuit, especially the armor was built over a lycra suit sprayed with latex I think. The joint areas, of the Batsuit were designed for free movement.

That custom looks quite restrictive as far as articulation at the knees, elbows and shoulders and I don't like how it wrinkles at the joints. Plus ours has a cod piece underneath the rubber, much better paint apps and may have a better sculpt too...

When the Joker comes, I want my Keaton to do as much as possible, posewise...
