Re: Keaton Batman

Hey you were the guy that wanted neck articulation even though there was no movement on the movie suit and didn't know the bat symbol was attached to the cowl, now you want to talk about accuracy.....:lol

Yeah, I want good articulation but let's face it the suit in the movie wasn't that fluid and still only allowed pretty stiff movement for the most part. I would settle for a little less articulation for less noticeable gaps in the suit.

I am hoping that the joints aren't quite as noticeable when the pictures start rolling in.

Yeah, I wanted the neck to articulate at first, move forward and back if it could but when I learned the symbol rode up on the shoulders more than I wanted, I decided to change my mind. I've learned a lot more about the suit since getting the DVD. :D

Re: Keaton Batman

Lack of neck articulation is true to the real suit, much as we like our articulated figures. Funny how they talked of it on the DVD as the "Bat Turn" when Keaton would pivot his entire body to look at something instead of just turning his head. I definitely think the head sculpt is best on Shawn's Batman, it has the neck come in under the jawline and then fan back out into the bat wings of the cowl so the head captures the '89 suit look. The eBay acution head looks like a mix of '89 and Returns; from the jaw up it's '89 style, but the straight neck from the ears down to the bat wings is more in line with the Returns suit.

Re: Keaton Batman

My Keaton is here!

Let's see some pictures and a review!!

Also, I was just having a little fun with you earlier. Hope you didn't take offense, I do appreciate the effort you have put into this for everyone's benefit.

Re: Keaton Batman

Initial first blush review. It is beautiful, like the fig you saw in Shawn's last set of pics. The paint apps are rich and flawless on the face, excellent. The bat symbol is bright yellow with a gloss finish, very nice. The suit also looks just as pictured. Love the look and weight of him. And the belt is perfect.

The Cape is a very thin textured pleather and hangs well! He just arrived and was packed very securely, head, feet both tightly wrapped and bound with napkin material. Cape also wrapped very tightly around body so there are body imprints and wrinkles to "air out", i.e. revert to form. I also need to futz with the cape to get it to look how I want and it is quite futzable so I'm sure I'll be able to create creases and folds as desired, don't know yet if they'll hold but point is you can do stuff with the cape and it hangs well as is.

He is just out of wrapping and i have to run out now but I will take pictures soon, post futz. I think you guys will be very happy with it. Need more time for a more extensive examination and review but it IS THE Best Rep of 89 Keaton out there IMO.

Thanks again to Shawn for making this happen for us Bat Freaks.

Re: Keaton Batman

Congatulations P!

I'm sure you'll love him once you start playing around with him a bit. The cape drape is one of those things that takes a little work to get it in a way you like -- you have to play with folding it over the shoulders and stuff. But it's really the only clothing part that IS poseable so you don't have to worry about messing up the rest of the outfit as you futz.

Curious to see your pictures and how you choose to pose him. Also, can you take a picture of him "straight from the box" so we can see how he comes?

Re: Keaton Batman

While we are waiting for better pictures of Shawn's version, I did a search and found a forum with some threads about the other custom that is on eBay with better pictures of WIP and assembly of both the 89 and Returns versions. I think they look pretty darn good.

As I stated before the undersuit looks better on these versions and would match up more on a shelf with a Hot Toys Batman Begins due to the suits looking like a similar material. Shawn's undersuit looks thin and to much like fabric from the pics so far.

Thanks for the kind words Sean and WG! Yeah, it's great. I used a blowdryer to de-wrinkle the cape and got about 2/3 of it draping nicely, wrinkle free. Will give it another go round and take a few pre futzed draped cape shots.

Sean, I posted a more updated list last time and noted everyone's info had been sent to Shawn. Plus a new guy PMd me and I provided Shawn's email to him as well so there are 15 now on the list, assuming he contacted Shawn.

Thanks for the tip on the cape, and sorry about messing up the list, I thought I caught the last one but must have overlooked it. Hopefully wave 2 will get going, the anticipation for this piece is growing for me, but the turn around time is fantastic, you can't beat that.

Re: Keaton Batman

Okay, here are a few Draped Cape shots as promised. I just received this fig a few hours ago so the Cape still has some wrinkles, folds and impressions due to packaging. I used a blowdryer to get about 70% of them out. Within a few days, it should hang beautifully.

Please note these are prefutzed, fresh out of the box pics Wor-Gar requested. The fig is absolutely stunning in hand. The Cape can easily be shaped and draped as you like to a point. The texture is really nice too.

Re: Keaton Batman

Nice image Paul, he looks even more fantastic than in Shawn's shots. This is one figure where I absolutely feel like you get every penny worth for his cost.

Re: Keaton Batman

Cape looks great in your pictures. It probably helps that it is a normal viewing distance, darker lighting and not up close where the patterning of the material looks more pronounced.

How about the fit of the suit/armor and fabric of the undersuit?

Thanks Sean, I was gonna mention the cape hangs nicely over his shoulder, someone was concerned about that, think it was EF. But you can just pull it or tug it here and there to get a desired look. The cape can also be draped or pinched in places and it will hold, depending on what you want to do with it as you can see.

Re: Keaton Batman

Paul, is there just a single set of hands?

What you see is what you get, yes. :D:cool:

I'll try to get some closeups of the face and eyes in the next few days. The eyes are great! I haven't fully examined the body armor and all but the last set of pics Shawn sent covers that.

Have to play with it too to comment on articulation but it is a beautiful piece and is on a very good base body.

Re: Keaton Batman

It's probably has been mentioned but how fast is he able to turn these out? After seeing pjam's figure, I'm even more anxious to cage this bat.:D
