Re: Kong: Skull Island

One of the worst G-films. :lol
I'd rewatch Final Wars two times before even thinkin' about this one.

Re: Kong: Skull Island

One more movie I'm not remotely excited about. Another attempt to cash in on vague nostalgia for an ancient franchise. And an obvious bridge film between Godzilla and the inevitable Kong vs. Godzilla movie that was the only reason this was greenlit in the first place. Makes me appreciate Pacific Rim a bit more for at least being somewhat original (putting aside Robot Jox for the sake of argument :lol ).

At least they're coming up with a new storyline and not a variant on explorers seeking the island, the woman kidnapped for a sacrifice and the beast brought into man's world.

Every giant monster movie needs an oddball. :D

I don't disagree, but cast him as an oddball character. Denham was supposed to mostly serious, and I just couldn't enjoy Black playing the role, he was too much of a caricature against Watts and Brody.

This guy is one of my favorite oddballs:

He was the best until this guy came along:

In this version the natives are friendly. :lol

Anyone catch the throw back to Predator 1 where the CIA sends the military but failed to inform them of the real threat.

There's also a nod the '76 Kong the way everyone is gathered watching a slide presentation about the island. I feel like this movie will be loaded with nods.

Re: Kong: Skull Island

lol one of my favorite godzilla films, even got it on blu ray.

I love the look of this film, more Kong films is never a bad thing and this looks awesome. Hopefully we make it to Godzilla VS King Kong, seeing those two throw down will be amazing.

Re: Kong: Skull Island

The new trailer looks promising and liking what I see. I cannot wait to see this.

Re: Kong: Skull Island

In my mind, cinematography is about composition--lighting, framing, evoking an emotional response, etc. I wouldn't personally say much about it without seeing something in motion on film, but I think CG stuff is fair game when discussing the cinematographic value of a film.
