Plasmid have you gone and started the site seeing things? Getting the films and such.

I've only reached the "Fallen Idol" case so far. That's only about 4-5 hours in so I don't know if I have access to much of the sightseeing stuff yet or any other possible side missions. I know that the game will open up more as Cole gets promoted to different desks so I'm staying optimistic. That's not saying that I'm not enjoying the game because I am, but if it's 15 more hours of just cases, street crimes and the occasional newspaper I think even I'd get bored.

Well like in GTA, as a bad guy why would I want to stop crime or take people to the hospital? But you can do that.

That stuff works in GTA because Nico is a maniac as well as an inconsistent character. Also GTA is less realistic compared to L.A. Noire. You can't have Cole going around wantonly shooting pedestrians.

My biggest beef with the side missions: location settings seem too similar. You show up, take out 2 - 7 badguys and mission over

I am on #7 or #8 (side mission) - bank of america, and with that one, the location changed a bit, which was nice. For such a huge area, it should feel more diverse. Overall, give the game a B - very fun experience, overall.....

I am surprised the game was allowed to have as close to full frontal female nudity as I've seen in a game, granted its a dead body, but glad to see the censorship prudes allowed that level of detail

Just doesn't fit this character or the way they are having this game go. I get what you're saying just doesn't fit the character they used in this one.

Ah I got ya. I've gotten several places so far. Just haven't done it yet.

I'm wondering if it matters whether or not you kill criminals during the street crime missions. I've been trying to incapacitate enemies by just going for the legs, but much of the time they just die anyway. After each side mission Cole will call for either an ambulance or the coroner (sometimes both). Is there any effect on how the game pans out depending on how I do in these missions?

yea, I try to shoot them all in the legs and they just die.

Yep, I was curious and tried this too.

It seems the only difference is what Cole calls in at the end of the mission (like you said, coroner or ambulance). That's the only difference.

Basically, you can only capture enemies if the story calls for it.

I can't tell you how many times I've shot their legs out from under them or shot the weapons out of their hand. Each time, nothing significant happens.

I stated this before but in actual cases I've tried doing the same thing (shoot a gun out of an enemies hand/shoot them in the leg) only to have the cut scene show a grisly fate. The first couple of times I was thinking "WTF, I didn't shoot that guy in his head" but then I just accepted it.

Too bad there wasn't a way to incapacitate and/or tackle someone and cuff them. Something.

Every time I play. The feaking game freezes during a dialogue cut scene while conducting an interview or interrogation. Every session my game freezes. WTF. anybody else having this problem?

I really wanna start playing this, but need to wait until my finals are over and done with... Monday afternoon, baby... :gah:

360 or PS3? I have it on PS3 and the only time the game froze was when I opened up the store. DON'T.

So are people enjoying this then?

I think that's the general consensus.

L.A. Noire Packing Heat as Overheating Issue Hits Xbox 360

While playing LA Noire for our review last week, we encountered no problems whatsoever, but there may be a fault with the game that is reportedly causing some consoles to overheat. Following reports that PlayStation 3's Firmware 3.61 might be to blame for the overheating on Sony's console, it has since emerged that this is not the case, hinting that the game itself may be the issue.

A Sony spokesperson told MCV that the PS3 3.61 firmware is not to blame for LA Noire overheating consoles, noting that the issue is actually affecting Xbox 360's too. "As with the release of any System Update, we will invariably see a very small number of users whose console has failed following updating their console, which is an unfortunate coincidence," the Sony rep stated. "Rockstar have now updated their FAQ on the matter, have admitted that it is a fault with their latest title LA Noire and have offered a work around. It should also be noted that the issue with this title is not PS3 specific and is also affecting other consoles."

Rockstar customer support is advising that users encountering freezing or crashing as a result of overheating delete their game data (not their save data) on PS3 and clear their cache on the Xbox 360 version. Work is currently underway to find a solution to the issue, but for now Rockstar is also advising that users open a temporary user account to ensure that save files are created.

For further reading on the matter, give Rockstar's LA Noire support page the once over. LA Noire is out now in North America and hits Europe tomorrow.

Not exactly..

But I have experienced some "Random" FR problems during gameplay ¿¿?? and little "pulls" during dialogue scenes (not very noticiable).. but not freezes.

I read some news today about this problem on PS3 and 360, and apparently is due to overheating problems (at first blamed the 3.61 firmware on PS3.. but the truth is that happens on both systems so the firmware has been completely discarded)

:(:(:(:(:(:(

I play on PS3 - Thanks for the info above :clap

Yeah i got so aggravated the last time i played because it froze again , so i stopped playing for the night , maybe i will delete the game data and try that .:dunno

I have also noticed when there is a dialogue scene sometimes it glitches and the mouth stops movig but the voice keeps going :lol its like a kung fu movie

this is kinda scary. this had better not kill my xbox. l have played for 9 hours or so and never had no freeze or skip issues, never noticed if my xbox got hot or not. maybe its better to play for just a couple hours at a time then waite half hour to let the system cool down.

I can understand why the older 60gb and 80gb PS3's would be more prone to overheating when playing heavily taxing games like this one. Newer PS3's (I think 2009-onward) run on smaller 65nm chips whereas the older models run on larger 90nm chips. Larger chips generate more heat under stress. Shouldn't have anything to do with the firmware update (and it's silly for Rockstar to have suggested that in the first place).

I bet Rockstar's QA only tested on the newer PS3 kits and that's why we have this alleged overheating problem. I have a first-gen 60gb BC PS3 and have put in 7-8 hours of playtime with LA Noire and haven't encountered a single issue.

Not sure why it's happening on Xbox though, but are people actually encountering overheating on 360? Could just be the game freezing and locking up.
