Legalizing Marijuana

You can only buy booze (not including beer) in state licensed stores here. We have one in town, that's it. I'm sure pot, if it ever comes here, will be sold the same way.

In Canada, you can pretty much buy beer in any corner store, and the drinking age is 18. Making it harder to come by and only legally available to older age groups doesn't really guarantee anything...

As for stigma, believe me, there's very little of it these days. No one cares anymore if they get pregnant before marriage, are on welfare, look like a piece of ____. It's all good. I can't tell you how many times I'm in line at a grocery store only to have someone with a food stamp card in front of me buying all this stuff, then have their non-covered cigarettes and beer right after it.

You can buy beer and wine anywhere here too, but at 21. Hard liquor you have to go to state stores to get it. I don't know if that's the same in every state though.

Does this segment of the population represent you?
Do you want it to? If not, well, then stigma does matter.

You're talking about 95% of the population. Stigma (or perspective) carries most, if not all the weight in this world. Religion, poltics, and legalities are all about stigma (and punishment, if you don't toe the line).

A million people can be just as wrong as one. Why do people still kowtow to the lowest common denominator? And I don't mean the lowest of the populace, but the lowest that each person is capable of.

I guess that's the real kicker about free will. It gives evolution the opportunity to move backwards, or to sit still and fester in it's own excrement.

It won't be sold in your regular stores like beer and wine. Most likely it will be sold in the 'collectives' we see now...with each city deciding how many they will allow.

Or over the counter at pharmacies.

thats cause yur in the Boondocks Ween; in normal cities, you can get alcohol almost everywhere really. We have Medical Marijuana places here in Sac; well, maybe one or two now, but if it becomes legal, I could see it being sold everywhere.

I would imagine even if Marijuana becomes legal, companies still have the right to test you and fire you for a positive, and I think companies that are drug free will stay so regardless if its legal.

They would. Hotels would also still have the right to forbid smoking in rooms. Not much would change, except for the fantastically hypothetical end of the world that people who fear decriminalization are certain will follow on the heels of not throwing potheads in jail any more.
