G looks way too tall in that poster.
Thank goodness, it's just fan art. :D

Re: Legendary Pictures' GODZILLA - May 16, 2014

Thank goodness indeed. In the zilla movie the poster showed zilla's foot to be gigantic when he was only a little bigger than a t rex. If history repeats itself and that poster was real then we'd have a 2ft monster terrorizing the world.

Nah but he's going to be big in this movie

Only a little bigger than a T-rex? hah

98 Godzilla would have squished a T-rex.

A bit off topic but, imagine a Godzilla of this size:

Over at Toho Kingdom, his height has been an issue of controversy, I don't care much, so long as he's big enough to do the damage we've come to know but not so big that you can't even buy into it.

The more I draw and imagine the missing gaps about this Godzilla from official images we've seen, the more I'm eager for figures and the movie, I"m really coming to dig the design.

Latest progress, the neck is very slow going, lots of texture and dimension and the texture isn't like a typical Toho design, otherwised I'd have a quicker way to do this.

You know whats great about Godzilla. The fact that he becomes so well known throughout each generation. The 60s, the 70s, the 80s and it died a little in the 90s but he still had movies but nobody really knew how to approach him since it all looked fake in the 00s thanks to cgi making things more pretty to look at.
This movie will be the godzilla for this generation. This is the cgi marvel era and Godzilla is so perfect for that. He always stayed relevant after all these years so I have no worries about this movie bombing.
The story should be great and Godzilla wont be a side character. As long as we dont pull some stupid **** like an army of godzillas somwhere in the deep or laying eggs. We shall see.

Died a little in the 90's? How so?

There were great films of him released in Japan which were popular but unfortunately NOT in the U.S.

There was...

Vs. Ghidorah (1991)
Vs. Mothra (1992)
Vs. Space Godzilla (1994)
Vs. Destroyah (1995)

And Bandai produced some very cool vinyl figures during that time too! :rock

Not died but just declined in 1999 lol

One thing that came out of the Encounter web campaign that I enjoyed was the timeline and showing Japanese culture as it relates to the films and you can pretty much tie some big issue to every major Godzilla film and the weaker entries come at points where they're making the movie to make movies but there's no grander message in the story. This is why I have high hopes for the new film, the director seems intent on making a social commentary with the film, and we're in a time again where man is dealing with concequences of serious crimes against nature.

Don't get me wrong, I love all Godzillla films, but where he was born to stand as a metaphor for something, I do feel like the best films carry on with strong symbolism about relevant social topics. Granted in many cases that symbolism passed right by me as an American viewer without reading up on things, but it doesn't change how I feel about the films and that's my point. I don't need a blatant social statement, but one having influence tends to lead to the better films, Hedorah being one of the weaker films with a statement behind it.

A. Writers right about now are scrambling how to include the Govt shutdown in this movie. :rotfl

B. The ***ishima nuclear meltdown in Japan, from natural disaster, definately opens up the door to create new metaphors for Godzilla.

C. You just dissed Hedorah. Biojex will has a sad. :rotfl

Those two statements don't belong in the same sentence :lol

I love that facepalm. :rotfl
