I love the scene where Godzilla was pushing the male Muto down a street and the Muto was digging his hooks into the high rises trying to stop Godzilla's momentum.

Lol yeah and it didnt work. Godzilla had a lot of very cool moments in that fight.

That moment was like me an my wife fighting over who gets to use our only bathroom first in the morning

I LOVED Godzilla's face when he frankly had enough of the male muto and give him the whiplash from hell. And that fatality he performed on mama Muto.....that was the most brutal kill in Godzilla history.

It's not a matter of having time to go out, I've got plenty of time, it's that my wife wouldn't be able to sit in the theater between the pregnancy and her anxieties, and I wouldn't be able to go without her and enjoy myself, I'd be checking my phone constantly for a message from her if something happened. Right now the best place for us both to be is home together as much as possible, her due date is next Thursday so it's really any day now.

Ah, I see. Totally makes sense. Congratulations by the way! I might've said so before, but can't recall.

Not all of them. The duck billed one comes to mind. But as others have said, with that huge tail Godzilla wouldn't need any kind of toes or claws for balance. And as minimally as they were shown in this film, they could easily redesign them for the sequel and only us hard core nerds would even notice a change like that.

I saw it again tonight, this time in Imax. Imax is definitely the way to go to appreciate this beast. I liked it better the second time because I wasn't having that "when is Godzilla going to finally show up" in the back of my mind the whole time. It certainly starts too slow and features way too little Godzilla overall. But one thing I noticed this time that I didn't the first time, is why didn't Godzilla cause a tsunami coming into San Francisco like he did coming into Hawaii? It was raining and the ground was still less went in San Fran than it was at the Hawaii airport

Yep.... Cloverfield was a better "Godzilla" film then Godzilla was.

There's nothing "Godzilla" about Cloverfield... just a bunch of yuppie *******s trying to "save" a girl that doesn't give a rat's ass about the main character...
And a bunch of them end up dead for being stupid and following the biggest fool of them all...

I couldn't wait for all of them to die horrible deaths... couldn't careless about any of them... seriously...

And all the crappy camera work plus the poorly designed monster makes this movie one of the most terrible movie-going experience I've ever had, right on par with Transformers 2, and that's saying a lot!!

I compare Cloverfield because it was a giant monster stomping in the city. I thought it had scenes that reminded me how great a new Godzilla film could be. I also thought the characters were better. But it is hand held so it is much different in style. But Godzilla was filmed from the "human" point of view so in a way they were similar.

Stay Puft is also a giant monster stomping in the city but has nothing to do with Godzilla...
Also, most Godzilla movies are filmed from the human point of view...

I liked King Kong... But I was let down by it. He humanized Kong too much. I like the old Kong that ripped trains apart trying to Find his girl. Jackson's Kong was too "sweet". Also some of the stuff was just too much (Brontosaurus stampede, three T rex's and Jane surviving all the crazy situations)

Maybe you saw a different Kong, of course he cared about the girl, but he destroyed pretty much anything else that stood in his path...
Did you missed how he destroyed the whole theater, cars, buildings, etc in NYC?

I am talking about the tone of Cloverfield... Not the fact that it was handheld or whatnot...

Remember that great trailer we got for Godzilla??.... That feeling that the Apocalypse was upon us in the form of the King of the Monsters. Cloverfield felt more like that trailer. Watch the original Godzilla. The was consequences for him showing up... You saw the victims in the aftermath... Cloverfield had that same feeling of **** really hitting the fan.... And while I agree that he was a "scared" monster.. there was no way of knowing that except for the comments made by the director in the interviews and the Special features on the Blu ray. Watch Cloverfield again and tell me why it appears that the monster is just "afraid" That guy is tearing **** up and even eating people.... Hell he ate Hud... And that scene with the military attacking Cloverfield was pure updated Godzilla.

Except you couldn't see ****...

The Godzilla in the new film actually reminded me of the 98 Godzilla because they made him so nice and so animal like in his personality. He even ran/walked away from the military when they were bombing him. I said it before... He even got to share a face to face scene with the main actor... Godzilla in the 54 Godzilla and Cloverfield would have ripped the main actors to shreds.

There's plenty of Godzilla movies where he's nice and friendly, even funny...

And Hud was realistically funny.... It's not like he was telling Transformer style Jokes... The humor rose from the situation. The cast of Cloverfield was far better and more identifiable then the main actors in Godzilla (not counting Bryan C) IMO.

Had to google Hud... hahahaha! No... all of those guys were annoying as hell... I didn't identify with any of them, at all... as I said, I wanted all of them to die horrible deaths...

Having said all of this.... I still liked Godzilla... But I really feel that you could have taken Godzilla out of the film and put another monster in it and the film would have still had the same feel.... Put Godzilla in Cloverfield and you have a great Godzilla movie (granted we would need more monster action)

Those trailers for Godzilla were for the ultimate Godzilla film... We got nothing close to that.... Cloverfield was closer to those trailers IMO.

Now if you want to say which one felt more like Godzilla vs Megalon or Godzilla's revenge... Then I would pick this new Godzilla over Cloverfield.

But I feel bad dissing on the new Godzilla... I want to love it and I am hoping a repeat viewing with the expectations of more "Godzilla vs Gigan" then "Godzilla 54" will help me enjoy it more.

To each his own... I guess...
