So, it's NOT set in... the same... U: https://www.comicbookmovie.com/x-men/logan/confusing-news-hugh-jackman-says-logan-will-not-be-set-in-the-x-men-a148353

I think he means it's set in the Post-DoFP timeline after Logan wakes up, like Mangold said, but at this point... who the **** knows!

Fox when it comes to timelines:

I'm with Riddick on this, I actually hope it's not connected to the other movies. As long as it's a good movie I'll be happy.

Still though, it's always impressive how Fox seems to get even messier when it comes to continuity to the point they have to make a one-off film.

I don't mind, we even get some cool meta stuff with the fact that he's reading comics.

I liked that.

It's been explained as "hero worship". Which is why this new interview is kinda confusing. Mangold said that the comics are just the public creating a "myth" around the X-Men. I just wish they'd stick with a story, and not have pretty much everyone contradict everyone else all the time.

I thought the comics still worked within the new timeline though.

In Apocalypse, Mutants were actually revered, especially Mystique (horrible movie) after she saved Nixon from Magneto. Apocalypse ends with the younger X-Men starting, and in Deadpool, it seemed that the X-Men were pretty well known, so the comics based on them sort of fit in with the new timeline.

Yeah, that's all true, and that's more or less what Mangold said the other day. It's this new Jackman interview that's not well-defined.

I got the vibe that Jackman doesn't even know :lol

Whether it is or isn't is not. If deal to me since this movies break continuity with every movie, but I would prefer this be a nice one-off with some references here and there from the older films.

All the X-Men movies have been pretty bad about adhering strictly to continuity. In the past I've found that frustrating at times. In this case, however, I don't think it's going to bother me. Having said that, I took what Jackman said to mean that they were going to just keep the timeline deliberately vague so that they could focus on telling their story rather than worry about possible contradictions in the timeline. I have a feeling there will probably be casual references to other X-Men and possibly events from some of the other movies, I just don't think there is going to be a big focus on explaining precisely where the movie should fit on a timeline.

Yea, I think you're right. I mean, Mangold came out and said this takes place 5 years after DOFP, and chose that to give himself some creative freedom without really ruining the ending to DOFP.

It sounds really nice actually...

Logan and Xavier were both affected by a virus created by the Essex Corporation that wiped out nearly all mutants, and caused them to lose control of their powers. Xavier accidentally killed several people with telepathy and became a fugitive, with Logan always by his side.

The Essex Corporation's Transigen Program creates clones of Logan to be used as weapons, but they decompose after a few weeks. Head scientist Xander Rice then impregnates a nurse with Logan's genetic material and she has a daughter, Laura, with similar powers, who later breaks out to find Logan while being chased by the Reavers.

Logan, Laura and Xavier go on the run and end up fighting the Reavers and an adult male clone, X-24. Xavier is killed while Logan and Laura kill all the Reavers and Logan kills X-24.

Logan finds out he's dying since his healing factor is fading and will no longer protect him from Adamantium poisoning. Having grown found of Laura, Logan vows to be a father to her for as long as he has left, and they drive off into the sunset towards an uncertain future.
