You didn't think Mel was great in Braveheart, Signs, Conspiracy Theory, Road Warrior and We Were Soldiers?
I'll be honest, I'm not the biggest fan of Braveheart. His acting in there is fine, but everything about that movie comes off very sensationalized. I think he's fine in it, his accent breaks a bit. Signs he was fine, I thought Joaquin Phoenix was the standout though, loved him as Mad Max but I think the character is just cool, I think Hardy did just as well in the role except he looks nowhere near as cool as Mel in the role, and Mel is a cool looking dude, but nothing about that performance is extraordinary or requires real acting. We were Soldiers and Conspiracy Theory I haven't seen in a long time, I kind of forgot about them but I remember him being pretty good in it. I think Mel is a good actor though, but on SSF I've noticed he's worshipped like a god, people want him in every role, and now it seems they think he's the greatest actor of all time.
Nah, Mel can act circles around Jackman. I love Jackman, specifically what he brought to The Fountain & Prisoners, but Mel's an acting titan. His eyes alone are pretty much unbeatable by anyone in cinema right now short of DDL.
Gotta disagree, his resume is probably better than Jackman's (which isn't very good at all) but Jackman is a far better thespian. The guy looks and acts nothing like Wolverine in real life, in fact he comes off very feminine, and I wouldn't be surprised if tomorrow it was announced that he was gay. Yet he he plays the tough guy roles very well, same with his Prisoners role. It's kind of crazy to think that the man who plays Wolverine is the same guy singing his ass off in Les Miserables, the guy who played Hook (his performance in that was great, the movie was horrible).
I think Mel is definitely more of an icon, and has had a far better acting career, but Hugh Jackman is a much much better actor. It's not even close in my opinion.
