When you have a handful of films that are "truly great" you are doing better than everyone else.

The problem with that statement is that it excuses mediocrity on the studio's part. It says "at least some of them are good." when in reality you should be saying "Why aren't they all good?"

Its a road that will eventually lead to problems.

Your idea of reality is funny. :lol

You already admitted the MCU has a bunch of great movies.

Agreed. Somehow Quentin Tarantino combined those elements successfully in Kill Bill but they didn't overlap very elegantly in the Logan trailer.

October 19th, 2016: Everyone will always remember exactly where they were when they experienced Lunge-gate.

Logan trailer was such a hit everyone is going as Wolverine for Halloween

That's good enough for most people.

But even then, I don't think the "truly great" MCU movies are truly great outside the CBM genre, maybe TWS... And I'm not sure.

Fixed. ;) And I agree about the X1 cage fight. Some of the best Wolverine action ever put to film and it didn't involve his claws.

Honestly, I will always love Cap 2's fight choreography, but there's a part of me that just wants to see sheer, utilitarian brutality put on screen. No flips, no spin kicks, just two guys duking it out with the intention of putting the other down as quickly and brutally as possible. Punches to the throat, kicks to the groin, kneecaps; whatever will bring them down fastest. Thats part of what I liked about BvS' fight scene. Bats was like "I have 30 seconds to inflict as much damage as possible, hey, there's a sink! *bash*" It didn't have any super cool flips, it was just a knock down, drag out brawl, where Batman uses whatever he San muster in his current environment to bring Supes down.

When you have a cohesive 13-film franchise (14 when Doctor Strange premieres) and only a handful of your films are truly great, there's a problem.

Sure, the MCU's made tons of money. So have the Bayformers movies. Unless you're a Disney stockholder, that's nothing worth celebrating.

what about celebrating the fact that they actually successfully launched a connected universe, and to this day there's nothing quite like it. :dunno

if you're "handful" of films includes IM, TA, TWS, CW, IM3, GotG, and Thor, well that's over half of the MCU. :lol

I liked it. Of course we have to sit through a horrendous first Wolverine movie, a meh sequel and now a film that looks like it might be awesome (although I agree the jump was goofy and they brought back the enormous claws I see) and it's Jackman's last go-around. I'm interested to see more, at least we'll get a gritty HT figure from it.

I think the closest is Iron Man, but I wouldn't say that's a great movie. I think it's a very good movie though. I also think Guardians was pretty solid too. I have too many issues with TWS for me to consider a good movie V I think it's a solid superhero movie for sure though.

Right! Show is what the claws can do! It's like in the cartoons when he'd popped his claws out just to throw something or fight a robot! No! I wanna see some real hardcore damage with those things. The origins game show cased it best imo.

That has to be the first time a game based on the movie turned out better than the movie :lol

That's the problem.
Not to mention the general audience's "standards" are all over the place nowadays.

The usual MCU-isms have started bothering in my last viewings of TWS. These movies will not age well.

I caught myself rolling my eyes at the "I'm multitasking", "if they're shooting at you they're bad", I didn't use to do that with TWS.

I think you're right, Iron Man might be the most solid film of them all. The thing is, I'd have to watch the entire MCU one more time to make my mind, and I don't wanna.

SNIKT1950 is too pious for the MCU village. He wants to live outside the safe MCU near the cold dank wood, talking to his goat, Black Snyder, and tending to barren crops of Fox superhero movies. He doesn't realize the danger that exists. It preys on children. It seduces young boys. It is

This made me laugh. Good stuff, man.

Agree with everything you said here.

After hearing Xavier ask Logan "What did you do?" I am now convinced they're doing the Wolverine killed the X-Men angle from OML.

Christ, I love what they're doing with this movie. That trailer is just perfection.
