Did I read someone said Wagner Moura is terrible as Pablo Escobar? What?

He butchers the Spanish language from start to finish and compromises his performance by spending 99.9% of his time onscreen trying to pronounce words properly.

I'm a fan of Moura's from the ELITE SQUAD films, but Padilha messed up by casting a Portuguese as a Colombian. If you don't speak a word of Spanish you can enjoy most of what he does. But if you do, you can see the chore his Spanish speaking is during every scene and how it affects his acting.

Just picture a movie with Ken Watanabe cast as Abraham Lincoln, struggling to enunciate every single word of English. It would drive you insane.

That's what a Spanish-speaker goes through with Moura. Its awful.

On the other hand, every one else on the show is gold. Holbrook and Pascal lead the pack, but it really is a shame that the key part was miscast (and that the Hollywood Foreign Press actually Nominated Moura for an Award, demonstrating they don't speak a word of Spanish).

Snikt is absolutely correct. Most Spanish speakers aren't happy he got cast as Pablo.

So as it turns out this trailer was the best thing about going to see Doc Strange in IMAX tonight. Getting to see it in crystal clear five-story resolution.

Literally, this trailer at a mere two minutes, is a better film than Doctor Strange.
