Here's another thing I was wondering......they say they are in 1977, and now Kate is in 1977 along with Jack and Hurley....do Kate, Jack & Hurley exist in the modern day 2007? Is there not a gap where they went to the island in 1977 until they return to modern times? Example: if they are currently in 1977 on March 1st, which would have been 2007 March 1st if they kept flying to Guam and landed safely. So does their footprint of history not exist from March 1st 2007-until they return back to the present?

And also if Kate (since she might be the youngest of the O6) was born after 1977, she can still travel back in time even though she did not exist in that year, correct?

Imagine 1977 and 2007 as places instead of times. While they are in 1977 they are not in 2007. If they are there from March 1st to March 31st they will be absent from 2007 for the same amount of time then return on April 1st. Just like if I were in Europe from March 1st to March 31st I wouldn't be in the US. But on April 1st I return to the US and I am no longer in Europe. As for Kate she can easily be in 1977. The really weird thing comes with the others. Let's say Jack is a year old in 1977, then there are actually two Jack's in 1977 year old Jack in the states and 31 year old Jack on the island. Hope that helps.

Anyone remember what the symbols on the countdown clock were? I can remember a feather and a bird (those were the two I recognized as Egyptian). I was just doing some quick research on Anubis and discovered that both of those symbols are used to express Anubis in hieroglyphics...

And Ween I think Agent23's theory on Richard wanting Paul's body was to show the person who killed their two men was killed as well.

Then that would mean they wouldn't take their leader's word for it.

I'm still wondering if there won't be more to this. Who knows with LOST!

Good theory there Caedus, but we still have to wonder why Sun didn't flash if she did indeed go with Lapidus. Thanks for the pics Batty, none of the other glyphs on the clock match Anubis', I may try to look up what those symbols could possibly mean though. I'm sure others have been there, but its fun to do your own investigating with this show.

I'm at work and can't see Batty's pics. When I get home, I'll check them with my books.

I'm not getting the same translation that others listed in the link are getting.

The 5 symbols as I decifer them:

1. Health/life, this symbol is also at times used for the ankh
2. Symbol for 100 (like C is the Roman numeral for 100). Is also used for the letter W
3. Prosperity or Endurance
4. Creator/Protector
5. Human death

What's confusing is there are many interpretations of hieroglyphics depending on what part of Eygpt and what time period.

I'm still playing with it. :)

That's what kept giving me trouble, plus the difference in meaning when things are combined and such. Sounds like you know more about it than me so maybe you'll make some big discovery. And then they could always be like the numbers and mean nothing at all. :lol

i've been searching the internet and diving into tons of books about hieroglyphics and i think i finally solved the countdown clock equation and what it says...........

keep pushing the button monkey !!!!!!!

Now, I noticed another reference to the Egyptians. In the room with the FDW there were more hieroglyph-like symbols on the walls. Seen here on the pillar where Ben is looking:

So in total the possible Egyptian references we have seen are:

-On the number things in the hatch (hieroglyphs)
-The four toed statue
-The Ankh necklace
-The Temple where the Smokey dragged the French guy (hieroglyphs on walls)
-The secret door in Ben's house where he went through to control Smokey (hieroglyphs on walls or some sort of ancient drawings)
-The Frozen Wheel that moves the island
-And this isn't as obvious, but I think that the character Horace is not named Horace for nothing. (reference to Horus the god)

Did it dawn on anyone else that when Locke pushes the donkey wheel that the island is in ancient times?

So that means Christian could appear and the donkey wheel existed during the 4-toe foot times?

Ah your right, cause once Locke got separated from Sawyer and the gang that is when Sawyer saw the statue, while Locke was in the FDW room talking with Christian. But it didn't last long as Locke turned the wheel.

Very good observation!

No other show... just a repeat Lost episode... that is stupid. Guess I will be watching Criminal Minds then.
