But the flash sideways are getting strange now......Jack had his appendix taken out on the island in 2004......but his mother told him in the side-flash that it was taken out when he was 7. So what does this mean?

And why wouldn't he at least be comfortable with the scar?

It seems obvious at this point, that there will be little things that the characters notice in their flash-sidewayseseses, that don't add up, evidence of events in their life (that happened on the island) that they don't remember.

It will add up to them realizing, something happened, and that they're not where they belong, and it culminates in the two realities merging, whether it be flash Jack dying, island Hurley dying, what have you until the universe evens itself out.

On a side note, I think the proof that Jacob is the good guy is his speech to Hurley, "Sometimes you can hop in the back of somebody's cab and tell them what to do, other times you just have to let them stare at the ocean until they figure it out". Maybe it's just me and my worldview, I believe you have free will, but at the same time, your life does have a pre-determined endpoint, but you can get there any way you like.

I guess that means if Jacob turns out to be a bad guy, my world will be shattered.

:(

With Flocke's entrance into Clair's "tent" and her telling Jin that the "friend" was the one who told her the Others had Aaron, it is pretty clear that Jacob is good -- or at least for now.

I don't think smokey telling her that indicates he's bad at all - he's lying to get what he wants, same as Jin. I'm not seeing any 'good' or 'bad' (again, as far as we know it was Jacob that got the Dharma folks killed, although it may turn out differently), but two beings each with their own agenda, playing out a game between them.

In fact, both Smokey and Jacob did the exact same thing to recruit Sawyer and Jack respectfully - they showed them that they had been chosen to be on the island. They just both knew that the choosing would mean different things to those two men.

I was reminded last night why I hate Jack episodes so much. If we've seen the last Jack and Kate episode for the series, I'd be more than happy. Sadly, I don't think that's the case.

One thing I was pondering last night - at what point did Jacob abandon Ben and the Others? They worship him, and clearly Richard was his disciple. But the Others did things under Ben that may or may not have been driven by Jacob (like the original kidnapping of Aaron - let's not forget that), or may have been after whatever division occurred. Remember, at some point Ben said that Jacob stopped talking to him. But when was that in the timeline? I'm hoping we see why as well.

It was a nice wink to the audience that the two skeletons in the cave made an appearance. :lol

And Hurley's comment that it might be them... :D

Interesting about that scene was that they purposefully reminded us that Smokey made Jack find that cave in the first place...why? Hmmm...

Anyone else still think the skeletons are Rose and Bernard?

I do. :wave

That whole scene was unncessary because it pretty much told us how dumb we are, especially when Hurely was like "what if these are our skeletons, blah blah" yea THANKS most of us predicted that a while ago.

On the topic of Flocke and Jacob, neither of them necessarily need to be good or bad. They just want something different then the other.

magic lighthouse... :huh who saw that coming? :lol
Man of Science, eh? weeelll..... ta-da... magic lighthouse! yup, blew your mind.

and if MiB and Jacob can't kill the Candidates, they can get them to kill each other? could Jack kill Claire? :google

and the skeletons was both a cool reappearance - they mean something right? - and frustrating cause Hurley took all the piss out of the prevailing theory. or was that them just getting us used to the idea? :huh :lol

They (smokey) tried to get Hurley to kill himself...but is Claire a candidate? I didn't remember seeing her name. Kate is though, right? Perhaps Claire's job is to kill Kate...

Perhaps it's all just this simple of a 'game' - Jacob makes the picks, Smokey adminsters the tests. If one of the candidates picked by Jacob manages to pass all the tests, they (Jacob and Smokey) remain there. If at some point none of the candidates pass, the game is over and they get to go 'home'.

So who were the candidates again? Sawyer, Jack, Hurley, either Jin or Sun (or both), Locke...was that it?

Again, I think the scene in the caves wasn't unnecessary - it was meant to clearly show us that smokey took Jack to that cave on purpose. Why? It could be as simple as saving them early on...or it could have been to find the skeletons, to create the original rift between those that went to the cave and those that didn't, or something grander...

So Rousseau had a baby on the island and became a reclusive crazy lady. Claire has a baby on the island and becomes a reclusive crazy lady. Was Rousseau working with Smokey all along?

It seems there were 2 factions of Others - one led by Ben behind the Dharma scientific electrical fence to keep out Smokey and the other at the Temple who protect themselves with magic ash. What do these 2 factions have to do with each other?

I didn't think they were two different factions so much as two different outposts of the same army, so to speak. Seems Richard may have been a sort of liason between the two?

The other that live in Dharmaville I took as the 'chosen' few. Kind of Ben's favorites as it were. Some lived in the houses, others in the temple.

Locke, Hurley, Sayid, Ford, Jack, Jin (most likely since Sun didn't travel to the 70s).

So far Jacob's got 2 and MiB has 2 (maybe 3 if Jin's on board and Sawyer isn't conning him).

Are we building toward the 815ers attacking/killing each other?

The one thing I don't get is that why was Ben chosed by Jacob to be the leader of "the other" or "the good guys" if he is SO bad.......

Maybe they are all going to replace someone? James will be the new MIB. Jack the new Jacob. Clair the new Rousseau. Aaron the new Alex. Kate the new Ben :lol
