The sideways reality was the "Purgatory" or waiting room. The stop before you're ready to move on. Ben still has some kinks to work out so he's staying. I think the message is eventually everyone moves on.

Micheal couldn't move on. He wasn't ready yet. He said as much to Hurley when he appeared on island. Walt wasn't there because the island wasn't the important part of his life. But for everyone that WAS there, the island was the defining time of their life.

Well, I guess I just don't get it. Not the ending I expected at all. It was great up until it was made clear they were all dead.

so hurley was dead too after protecting the island as long as he could even though Smokey was dead?? what did it need protecting from and why was Hurley dead???

That was just about the most beautiful 2.5 hours of television I have ever seen. Cried like a baby at the end. :monkey2 :lol

I feel like I'm getting married tomorrow or something! :lol

I have never loved a television show like this.

I saw the pilot the day it first aired and I have not missed a single episode since. I have watched the entire show in real time - even through the slower times - and it's like a big chapter in my life is closing.

Bitter sweet.

I agree with you there, about it being a big part of my life for the past six years. My daughter even liked it when it started, and she was 4 then. Now she's 10. I, like you have watched every single episode in real time and in order since the pilot. So has my wife. I don't need to get married since we've been married now for 15 years. :wink1:

LOST was one of my all-time favorite shows. I teared up many times tonight. I'm anxious now to see what extra stuff they filmed that will be in the season 6 box set in August! Now that I have a Blu-Ray player, I'll get the Blu-Ray set. :)

The finale' was not what I expected. But that's not a bad thing. I was happy with it for the most part. Being a die-hard fan, and loving these characters, I wanted to see happy endings for all of them. Or at least some sort of closure and resolutions made. I really think that happened tonight. It was SO great to see returning characters! Some I thought would never come back.

I really don't want to go into lots of detail right now for the sake of those that haven't seen it yet. I'll do a more extensive review later on.

Overall I am very happy with how the series ended. Sure some questions are still there for me. Some things that I don't fully understand right now. I hope to get some more understanding as time passes by. Hopefully seeing more footage in the season 6 box set will clear things up for me too.

ALOHA LOST! :wave Thank you for six GREAT seasons of some of the best television I've ever seen! :yess:

That was a nice ending to a very good show.

Based on the images of the 815 wreckage at the end, I believe everyone died in the crash. Everything that happened on the island was a means to move on. It was purgatory after all.

Why is Jimmy Kimmel not on yet?

They definitely gave the impression that he would be on right after... but he is on at 12:00.

Good God that better not be right.

Since this show came on the air I got engaged and had to end it due to her being and booze hound nut case.....found myself and and loved life for the first ime in my adult life. I then got engaged again and fell in love...true love for the 2nd time in my life ( no, the 1st woman mentioned here was not one of those times ) and then just 2 weeks ago she delayed our wedding and 2 days ago dumped me and left.

I watched this show and felt a form or closure on not only the episode of my life that was this show, but alos my relationships.

I will miss this show a great deal. It has been the "constant" in my life for 6 years.

Wait, THATS the alternate ending that Kimmel promised to show? A lame skit that isnt even funny?

I cried a lot, but no tears from the moment Christian appeared on.

Man that is where I totally lost it. (no pun intended etc....)

I am not watching Kimmel tonight. I want this moment to resonate as long as I can and I think Kimmel would just put a kibosh to it.

I didn't see that ending shot as being a signal that there were NO survivors of Oceanic flight 815. Yeah...I really hope that is NOT what happened. :gah: Then their experiences in the past six years were all a part of purgatory? :dunno I don't believe in purgatory anyway.

Like I said in my post, I have lots of questions. I knew that the writers and producers would not tie up everything in a nice little bow for us. So I wasn't expecting that at all. But the reconnection of characters and their relationships was SO GREAT! :hi5:

Hey, just said it could. This is a ending that is not cut and dry.

Another take is everything on the island happened. The sideways was their purgatory for them to move on.

I don't think they died on the flight. Christian himself said they all died at different times.

You sir are correct. They did not die on the flight. What happened on the island was real. They all died at different times and then met back up at the end. The coffin was empty ( IMO ) because it was for all of them that were ready to move on.
