Ive just realized why I think Heroes is taking Lost's place in my heart, and its something Tim Kring (or is it King?) said... and that is that you can leave mysteries but don't let them go on for seasons on end or build a whole mythology/show around them because in the end when you DO answer questions the longer you had put the answer off for, the less satisfying the the answer is. He used this in relation to the mythos that the X-Files built and the kinda meh finale it had. I think that is part of the issue with Lost, we still don't have answers for some things from Season 1 and we are going into season 4. With Heroes there isn't much that is essential to the show that hasn't been revealed to us and nothing really considered throw away as I consider the 4 toed statue right now.

And I also predict that the same thing will happen with Rose and Bernard as soon as they get their Phil Collins tape back...

You said it first! And no matter that Rose is post-menopausal, I mean the "island" man, it does things!

Here is the episode summary for "The Man Behind the Curtain" episode that we will see in 2 weeks...

Ben unwillingly divulges information to Locke about the island, taking him on a journey to various locations including strange monuments and the mysterious Jacob. Back at the beach, Juliet's secret is revealed. Flashbacks will show us the origins of DHARMA and the history of the island, including 'the purge.'

This may sound bad, but its about time. They mentioned the statue in the finale for last season, no mention of it since and then we get the explanation. I like Lost but letting things hang for too long is starting to wear on me.

I like the slow, mysterious pace. Yeah, it can be a little grating sometimes, but the intrigue keeps the show interesting for me. If we suddenly got all the answers we'd all lose interest pretty quickly I think.

Still, it has been refreshing over the last few weeks to finally get a few questions at least partially answered. This season's been ALOT better than last - I felt the second half dragged badly there.

Im all for mystery, but there's things from season 1 that we still didn't know up until this season.. like why Locke was in the chair, or what exactly is going on on the island. We are getting more of that now but I think if season 2 had been done a touch differently we'd all be a bit more satisfied. Ya know what i reallly want an explanation for... what the hell was the deal wit the whole fake station, and taking Walt and the "Castaway" appearence the Others had at first. I, for the life of me, do not remember ever getting answers to that.

Did you miss the episode where they explained why locke was in the chair? His dad knocked his butt out a window 8 stories from the ground and it busted his back.

No no, I saw that. Fantastic moment. I was going off on the whole Others taking Walt storyline from last season that magically wrapped itself up. Which just got me thinking... didnt Ben say the only way to leave the island was by sub? So where are Walt and Michael?

Ok well that explains why he was in the chair. As far as Michael and Walt well the producers asked them to come back (Michael at least) and they where declined. So that may be the end of their story.

Which makes it even worse to me, you would think the Producers would do something to indicate Michael and Walt were done. Maybe show the boat blowing up because they were betrayed by the Others.

mmm can we say plot hole? its that kind of thing that irks me, they go through the WHOOLE sub plot and we get that craptastic resolution which just doesnt make sense in light of what we learned.

Hopefully in the end we'll get some satisfying resolutions. Who knows, maybe we're not giving the producers and writers enough credit.

So long as the show is still entertaining I'm in til the end.

Just to get back to this week's episode for a moment - I read that what the mystery woman really said to Mikhail was: I am not the only one". She didn't say: "Thanks you for helping me." No big surprise that he lied about that.

And did no one find it interesting that in the real world Flight 815 has been found with no survivors? It reminded me of the book Millennium by John Varley.

I have a feeling that the Others staged a second crash site in order to keep the world from looking for the survivors. We know that they have resources and power and influence off the island and once the crash happened, they seemed to be working quickly on some sort of plan. Making the world think that everybody is dead means that they have a whole group of people at their disposal. We still don't really understand what the Others are up to but I think that by the end of the season we will have a much better idea of what is going on. Of course, there could always be some time travel or alternate reality explanation, but I think that the simplest answer is that the Others staged a second mock crash site to keep the world from continuing a search that could have caused the island to be exposed.

I thought about the Others staging the second crash too, but wonder about the bodies. Wouldn't they be identified? Would the Others have the power to fake that? Just more questions that make me enjoy this show.

Unless there were no bodies found? Or the dead bodies that might have washed ashore were placed in the fake wreckage? Remember that Jack's Dad's body was missing. Perhaps it was placed there? Maybe there were enough bodies to seem real enough.

Did anyone catch the Biblical reference a few weeks back? After Juliette shot the Other(I can't recall his name) and Jack had Ben spare her life, Ben had a mark placed on her. Much like when Cain killed Abel , God had a mark placed on him as well.

That's interesting Tom. It had crossed my mind but I don't know if they would have everything needed to match with the whole flight. It's totally possible though with how crazy the show can get.

I'm not too interested in the paratrooper story. I want to know why Patchy is still alive! :google
I guess the perimeter fence wasn't on. And he must be a really good actor! Wasn't he foaming at the mouth with blood coming out of his ears? :horror

That could be. With the original 45 or so survivors, they could be just listed as missing. Have they ever said how many people total were actually aboard the flight?
