So how long do they think they have been on the island, and how long have they actually been on it?

Well, The Red Sox won the World Series in October 2004.

Because remember awhile ago Jack asked Ben if they really won? And, Ben told him yea, they really won. (I can't remember who told him they won it originally).

So, if they crashed in 2004 (guessing on the Red Sox World Series), and its X-Mas eve 2004, they have been on the island probably 6 months or so....right?

Flight 815 crashed Sept 22, 2004.

I love Desmond & Penny episodes. I think they are the heart of this show.

yeah, Desmond is my favorite character also.

So, the "friend on this boat" must be Michael huh?

I think Michael is extremely likely because the door was opened by this "friend" and the audience never saw who did it. If it was someone we haven't met before there would be no real reason not to show them. Not showing them just heightens the mystery and impact when they reveal who it is... Michael?

It's gotta be Michael. I think at the SDCC Panel they even said he'd be in about halfway though the season and we are about at that point.

Episode 8 was going to be the halfway point and that's been confirmed as a Michael centric episode. Too bad we'll have to wait till sometime in April to see it. Maybe he'll pop up at the end of episode 7.

Last I heard they were just going to air through ep 7 for this first half and pushing ep 8 to the April airings even though it's already in the can because it has a shocking ending that they don't want the viewers to have to wait and see it resolved. They compared it to have to wait a month to find out what happened after the shooting of Anna Lucia and Libby episode.

Great episode so far! I just wish Lost would stop giving us more questions and answering the previous ones.

Am I the only person that remembers J.J. and others saying we may not ever get all the answers because this show is like life in that you don't always have all the answers? Also like life when you get one answer you usually get 20 more questions from said answer.

One of the best episodes of Lost yet. Funny how it had almost nothing to do with the rest of the cast. It just shows what great writing can do.

Aarrghh! I love this show but I hate it!!! :rotfl But it keeps me engaged! I don't ever remember your quote Memnoch but I was at SDCC two years ago when the other dudes said that everything with Lost can be explained by Science...WHATEVER!!!:monkey1

It's entirely possible that I'm pulling that outta the air as I feel sickness coming on and thought Wednesday was Thrusday (ended up missing a class), dreamed I was getting called by the g/f at 2 am and am just getting fairly dickish lately. God I hate being sick.

Another week, another episode, another puzzle to solve.

So besides giving the future/present day Desmond a constant so he could stay alive, what did that phone call achieve?

It brought Penny actually into the story, showed that her father had hints about the island and a connection to the Black Rock, explained the time differential idea, proved Des was fully aware in his flashbacks though he couldn't change anything (and I'm going to bet Desmond is the cause of everything) and lastly dropped hints about Mr. Physics (yea totally don't remember his name).

Edit: Yea I kinda went into everything the episode achieved and not just the call, sorry bout that. But I think the call is a summation of all actions.
