In my opinion, those Chinese factory workers do a hell of a job painting these figures. Granted its nowhere near the level we've seen from DA, Mikey, Les and Darren's stuff but stand them next to anyone's 12" figures that sell comparative edition sizes and I think SSC comes out on top.
I might concede the SW figures are overpriced, but the amount of detail in the LOTR figures fully justifies the price tag. The only detractor SSC really has is that crappy Art S Buck body.

Tyler, if you put DA, Les, or anyone in a sweat shop with deadlines and orders to paint things a certain way or loose your job and I am sure any of them would turn out stuff as good as what we get from the factory. Stupid generalizations like that are a) inaccurate and b) thoughtless. We have members here from China and who knows but that one of them may work for Sideshow.

Besides, your whole point seems to be that Sideshow are trying to sucker people into paying for one product and getting another. Reality is that the only people who feel sucker'd are typically people with naive expectations of what they pay for.

There I am done with that. :banghead

Think we'll hear anything this week in the newsletter or just more waiting and heartache?

I'm guessing nothing this week, but an announcement by the end of May.

I personally think there won't be another PPO announcement until after CIV at the earliest and SDCC in July at the latest.

I hope we hear something this week, that would be nice. Not that I have any specific expectations:gandalf or anything like that. Anything:gandalf would be nice. Just something announced coming from the 12'' LOTR line:gandalf would be great. Ya know, I'm not picky:gandalf by any means.

Man of the West. I know you were speaking in jest. But I assure you, Wormtongue would be an awesome fifth figure. I would cast no foul intentions at such a (un)worthy addition.

Seriously, a wormtongue would kick boo-tee!

Perhaps, but he's one of those figures I would be happy waiting a bit longer for. The line needs a kick first; I hope we at least get Saruman before Grima. And Gandalf before Saruman. That would be nice.

Ed is gone. But I'll give you my ideal line-up:

Gandalf the Grey
Saruman
Gimli
Galadriel
Elrond
Gollum
Frodo and all the hobbits
Saruman
Eomer
Denethor
Eowyn
Wromtongue
Tree Beard (how cool would that be?)
Mouth of Sauron
Bilbo (Party tree)
Celeborn
Arwen

Mouth of Sauron...there ya go. Forgot about that one. Denethor will be a little higher on my list since his sons are already out. Saruman is on there twice, is that on purpose?

Well I've kept a close eye on this line since its announcement. I first read the Hobbit when I was 10 and the LOTR when I was 11. I didn't attempt the Silmarrillion till I was about 14. So I have a vested interest in it.
I think this line has had the consistantly best offerings of anything I've seen SSC make. Since I doubt its likely they will have Dwarf and Hobbit bodies yet I think the line up will be:
Gandalf the Gray
Arwen
Eomer
Elrond
Saruman
Haldir
Galadriel
Grima
Theoden

I don't think the smaller characters will be too far behind, because there are alot of small characters from star wars and they will be able to get lots of mileage out of them. The one figure I have serious doubts they will attempt is Gollum. Because of his lack of clothes and the drawn appearance of his body poses major problems right at the heart of SSC achilles heel: The Buck body. I think a Gollum that looks like Slave Taylor would be utterly ridiculous.
