Are you guys going to try swapping Luke's head onto another body? If so, let us know how it works out!

NEVER!!! Okay, maybe the forearms are a tad long, but not enough for me to sacrifice the excellent tailoring and the superb interchangable hands. He's as near to a perfect figure as is that I have ever witnessed.

JustinLuck: Jury's out until I have my Luke in hand. The headsculpt would easily transfer to a Dragon body, but as Customikey pointed out, you'd have to retool all the nice hands Skywalker comes with, and that may be more trouble than it's worth.

Of course there's always ways to modify the SSC bodies too. I "shortened" my SSC WWI Blackwatch and General Custer figs based on a tutorial posted at the OSW. Basically you take out small sections of the legs and torso using a hacksaw, use a power sander, super glue Sidey back together and wham-o, better proportions. You could easily do that with Luke to solve the ape arms problem.

Like I said, I may be happy with Luke's SSC body as is. Stay tuned ...

Oops, no offense jlcmsu. I intended to reply to JustinLuck's question above your post on this page, but mistakenly put your handle in there.

I can understand why many would be perfectly happy with Luke just the way he is. Customizers are always thinking of ways to improve a figure, rework something, see if can be presented in a cooler way.

I have to say all this talk of customization really makes me look at some of my figures and say hmm...what if...

DarthViper, I'm the same way. I wouldn't dare customize my Sideshow figures because I know I'd only make them worse. I also build the lego sets and put them on shelves.

Add me to that list. It's actually not the sideshow ones that have me thinking about modifying, with the exception of George Washington, and that's more of a clothing thing. The others would be putting the head on a sideshow body. I was never creative enough to build other things with my lego sets.

For all those who have received thier Luke I have a ???? Has anyone had a problem with the wire in Lukes rode coming out were it clips around Lukes neck...mine has a small hole were it is coming out.....I can push it back in, but every time I adjust Lukes robe or try to shape the hood the wire keeps coming out...I love the way Lukes looks with the robe on,but Iam afraid if I keep adjusting the hood the hole were the wire is coming out is goint to keep getting bigger.

Its to small of a hole to sew...does anyone have any glue ideas to close the hole...would standard superglue be ok...i dont think it would really damage the robe anymore than it already is...:devil

I had the exact some problem. What I ended up doing is actually pushing the wire out a little more, and then I took a sissor and snipped the thing straight off! Enough to make sure it wouldn't poke through anymore but not enough to make the hood un-shape-able. That was the only thing I could see to do.

I was just looking at my Dragon and BBi figures and if the arms are the only thing that you'd change on the SSC body then it's about the same. Their arms come down to just below the crotch just like the ones on a short body SSC. Andy you have the problem of not being able to interchange all of Luke's many hands. I've always loved that SSC sculpts the hands to the figure and that's just emphasized with the SW ones where there are so many hand choices.

That's not the problem - it's the forearm length which can look just plain weird and wrong. And I know SSC have all the joints, if not more than a BBI... but after swapping Kronen onto a BBI 1.0 I could achieve the pose on the front of his box - couldn't with the SSC. And don't get me started on the neck and gappy hips; I'm a very dull and boring record on that score ;)

As for hands - I've gotta wait about a month for my Luke while he travels across the oceans, but I've had great success so far swapping SSC hands onto BBI 3.5 wrist pegs which with trimming will bit a BBI 1.0 or, with sellotape padding, a Dragon. Whether the new design for the SW wrist joint will hamper things is something I'll have to wait and see.

Though I don't mind trimming the wire on the hood if necessary or using some toilet paper to fill out the hip area so the pants fit better, but that's about as far as I'll go with any adjustments as I'd probably make a mess of it. I've customised a few 3 3/4" figures and done pretty well but I wouldn't want to risk ruining any of my Sideshow figs as they aren't the cheapest or easiest figures to replace.

Yeah I think the likeness is spot on.

And could someone pose Luke like this? This was my favorite image as a kid and I guess it still is.

Hello fellow collectors and SW fans.
First post here, but some of you may know me from the RS forums.

While I don't have the SST Luke yet, I wanted to give the pose in the picture a shot with the Medicom Luke.

Hope you enjoy it while somebody poses SST Luke:

Sorry for the so-so quality of the shots, but I was more interested in getting the pose right, and let me tell you, it's really hard to figure out just how the arms and legs were positioned...

Here's another look:

Well at least I know Iam not alone....Hopefully SS can correct this before we start detting all our Jedi in.....I went ahead and snipped of the end too....It seem s have corrected the problem for now....I hadnt thought of just cutting it off...Thanx Von:devil

It's cool. I took no offense.
