LMAO. Nice Broseph!
See what I did there? I combined Bro with Joseph!

The kid looks very much like Aang, and does have some very good martial arts skills. He makes the bending quite believable.
And the movie isn't THAT bad. It has some very good moments, where you can see where it could have been actually great with the right director. In some ways that makes it all the more painful, because you know what it could have been.
Not all the acting is terrible - Irho (sp?) is great, even though he's nothing like the cartoon version. And Zuko is decent as well, all though being angry tends to be an easier acting gig.
But Aang, Katara and Sokka never get to shine, and it's tough to tell how much of that is M. Night and how much of that is them. They do what they're told, especially at that age.
Even with the weaknesses, the final scene is still very powerful - imagine how much more powerful it would have been if the previous 100 minutes had been well done?
If I were to have one major complaint, it would be exactly what we all feared from the trailers - M. Night sucked all the humor, all the heart out of the film.
M. Night needs to change his attitude. He needs to step back, take on something small, and COLLABORATE.
Darklord Dave; said:But I'm not holding my breath for the other 3 chapters.
Well I saw it earlier today and I thought it was good and I enjoyed myself. No I haven't watched the Anime series and in a way I'm kinda glad I didn't, cause I think it's probably better if you go in not very familiar with it.
I didn't find the story hard to follow or the acting that bad at all. Granted I've seen better acting but this wasn't the worst to me. The effects were amazing but I expected nothing less from ILM. I hope it makes enough money cause I really want to see the next chapters.
After seeing it for myself I just honestly don't understand how so many people can say it's so incredibly horrible. Maybe if I had watched the Anime I wouldn't think it was as good but even if I had, I honestly don't think it would be as bad as just about everyone says.
Hey Havok, few thingies mister mister....good to see you back! this really is not anime, it incorporates some anime techniques but is probably one of the the best american cartoons ever....if you watched the show you'd understand why it's a total letdown for fans of the show. The final scene touched the tip of how this movie shoulda played. M Night sucked the fun outta it. These are kids being forced to make grown-up decisions, M Night had them making these decisions the way an adult would. Go watch the series (or even just the first book) and then come back with your thoughts. The story line of the moon goddess was one of my favourites and it was not interpreted well at all.
Not that it's a surprise to anyone, but Airbender lost to Twilight financially in their opening weekend.

Still made about $57mill overall during the last few days though.
I'm watching Unbreakable right now. I just don't understand what happened to to this guy. I'm starting to think he was abducted by aliens and they replaced him with their ____ty Shymalan.
Pretty much any movie would lose to twilight right now. Its ridiculous.
57 mil isnt too bad. How much did it cost to make it?
Seems that if you watched the animated series, you didn't like this, but if you weren't a fan of the animated series, you did like it. Since I knew NOTHING of the animated series, then I might like this a little bit.
Or maybe not.
