Ok so if you saw an advance screening please prove it so no one will consider you a lier. From my undersatnding they tweaked the movie alot since all those screenings happened.

I saw it last week, so I doubt it's been tweaked. Three spoilers for those who care about "proving" things: Appa has about three minutes of total screen time, there is no giant water spirit monster thing at the climax, and the villain is defeated by being drowned by water bender extras. Also, they pronounce Aang and Sokka differently. There are none of the female warrior tribe, either. Azula has a very minor cameo.

I like Avatar, mainly because it's funny, complex and human. The movie lacks all of these things. Aang is serious, not a goof ball. The short run time means you're running from point to point without getting involved. The FX are good. The design is good. The 3D is awful. If you like the cartoon but haven't enjoyed the last few M Night movies, you're throwing your money away.

This was another 3D retrofit like Clash of the Titans, so I'd recommend finding a 2D screening if you can.

And I don't want to rain on people's parade. Just be aware of what you're plunking your money down for. You might like it. We might like Avatar for different reasons, and the movie might have what you want in spades (the bending is awesome, but that's not enough for me to drop movie money anymore). If you like the cartoon but don't like M Night films, you're probably better off waiting for Netflix IMO.
