It'll be more interesting to see which film this week, Airbender or Twilight, is the bigger failure.

Financially, I'm sure Twilight will wipe the floor with Airbender, while I hope hope hope Shyamalan proves to his (very few remaining) fans and critics that he still knows how to make a good film.

If Shyamalan can't pull together a story that was pretty much all set in front of him he should hang it up forever.

Oh oh, the first few reviews are in at Rotten Tomatoes, only 12 so far but it's not getting off to a good start. I had really high hopes for this movie. I've always thought that it could be the new Star Wars if done right.:(

From what I've read, this movie sounds horrible. I shall not be seeing it. Nor even renting it. Those action scenes also would look way better in real time, not bullet time. Stop with bullet time! It works in fewer movies than it's implemented in.

I heard the acting's bad. Like wooden puppet bad! I hope it's not as bad as Revenge of the Sith! I swear, I'll crybend a river!:crying

I heard Aang makes Jake Lloyd's Anakin look like an Oscar contender or something along those lines...

Man, I was going to take the kids on Monday. I wonder if it's still a good kid flick.

At this point you have to wonder if M. Night is actively trying to rub it in our faces that he continues to get movies made. And I'm not a hater. I would love to see him deliver on the potential of his first few movies. It's mind boggling.

As far as I'm concerned, Rotten Tomatoes is a bad judge of what movies are good and bad. I never paid much attention to that site until recently and when they give movies that aren't out for a month yet nearly 100%, then give movies like A-Team 48%, it just tells me they don't know they're asses from holes in the ground.

All signs point to a giant pile of crap, unfortunately.

As of this post, the flick has a 7% Rotten Tomato score. There are 21 reviews as of now.

The Metacritic aggregate score for this is 23/100. This is out of 15 reviews currently.

Even if we take all this with a grain of salt, this does not look good....

If you take a look at the Metacritic site, on the left you'll see a list of movies in wide release. Check the scores. This is why I don't pay a bit of attention to critics.

Right. That's taking the scores with a grain of salt, like I said. I did include the Rotten Tomato scores also. In this sort of situation, I usually read a review from a critic that I find my opinion aligned with for most films.

But come on, even compared to the rather disappointing scores of many big 2010 summer flicks so far, the most popular ones still manage to float above 40%-50% on metacritic. The Last Airbender is at 25% with even more reviews than it had in my last post. Plus, it's from a director that hasn't made a decent mocvie in years.

I was more interested in seeing if Shyamalan could redeem himself than the actual film itself. Failure on both counts, then.

IF . . . this movie tanks . . . it'll be the end of M. Night Shyamalan's career . . . strike that . . . it be better the end of his career.

His career "jumped the shark" with THE VILLAGE and pretty much everything else after that.

LADY IN THE WATER sucked @$$ and THE HAPPENING was laughable.

Damn i'm seeing this on saturday and i'm hearing alot of bad thing's i hear that zuko is good and mostly all the other firebenders but the others suck bad and it's way to quick.

Dammit this could've been the next big time frachise.

I don't care, I'm seeing this film later on. The critics can go ____ themselves!:moon
I'll probably see it too.

Has anyone heard if the 3D is worth it or just pass on that and go to the 2D?

Maybe I'll wait for Pitu's review.
