Pujols with a second day in a row of winning a game in extras with a bomb. Carp pitched really well today.

Oww! That's gonna hurt.
They had the 1-2 threat with Puljos and Holliday in the line-up.

By the way, do they still have Puljos playing third?

I'm just surprised they didn't put him on the DL earlier. The Cards are horrendous at managing injuries.

Every now and then. With Holliday out, though, I'll be surprised if it happens much more.

Hate to lose those two guys for a couple weeks but the team as a whole is doing alright. Pujols is getting it moving in the right direction and I would expect will put up the usual numbers.

He's heating up!!!

Another classic Zambrano/Carp match-up!

PUJOLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He's on fire!!!

He's heating up for sure. His numbers by the end will end up being the norm I' sure. Agreed that these two always seem to pitch this way against each other. Love it!!

Even though it means we'll probably lose him to FA, I would love to see him continue the 30HR-100 RBI-.300 BA streak.

hitting is overrated in baseball :lol

It depends what team needs the hitting. If the Rockies had Bautista in the outfield they would probably be 8-10 games over .500 since we are like 6-16 in 1 run games. A guy that's already driven in 40 RBI would go a long way here.

I just say that cause the Giants usually only win with like 2-3 runs a game. They've needed a power bat for the last 2 years.

Hitting is overrated? :lol u can't hit. U can't score.

Every team in the league wants hitting. U need guys Luke Pujols who can rake to help cover days when pitching won't get it done. That's one of the reasons why the giants gm is acting like an ass about losing posey.

Pujols ain't got sh't on Bautista..Go Jays!.

Pujols' bad year (.278) >>>>>>>> Bautista's career average (.251)

:lol

Isn't Luke Pujols Albert's second cousin playing at Fort Osage?!?!

:lol :monkey3

^^^ Exactly. Pujols has put up MVP(!!!) numbers for the last 10 years. Has broken more records than ENTIRE TEAMS of players combined, and cemented himself in the Hall of Fame around 3 years ago.

He's a 3 time MVP(should've been 4)
He's...ahhhh, screw it. Here you go:

9× All-Star selection (2001, 2003–2010)
World Series champion (2006)
3× NL MVP (2005, 2008, 2009)
2× NL Hank Aaron Award (2003, 2009)
6× Silver Slugger Award (2001, 2003–2004, 2008–2010)
2× Gold Glove Award (2006, 2010)
2001 NL Rookie of the Year
6× NL Player of the Month Award
4x NL Player of the Week Award
2004 NLCS MVP
2008 Roberto Clemente Award
2003 NL Batting champion
2009–2010 NL home run champion
2010 NL RBI champion

He's been regarded as, arguably, the best player in baseball the last 7 years.

Don't even MENTION Bautista's name or that joke of a franchise in the same sentence as Albert. Albert has taken dumps more menacing than the Blue Jays line-up.. Bautista is having a break-out year. Fantastic. Let's see him do it for the next 10.

All that said, having one of the top players in history for 10 years and with a menacing rotation for much of it, STL fans have to feel pretty disappointed in only winning 1 WS.

With the amount of talent on their teams, it is surprising they haven't won at least one if not two more titles.

I remember the '04 team in particular as being a real machine. They did have a rough time in the NLCS with the Astros and then swept by the Red Sox in the WS.

Yeah, Cards' fans should be extremely upset with having the most World Series titles in the National League, more Hall of Famers than you could count, and an rabid and extremely devout fanbase.

And what menacing rotation do you speak of? lol. The Cards have had a decent rotation for much of the last decade, but it's always been the bullpen that has killed them.

They had a chance in 2004, and sealed the deal in 2006. The Cards have been riddled with injuries this year, yet still are in 1st in the Central.

If competing EVERY year, having 10 WS titles, and some of the greatest players in baseball history is a disappointment, then sure...I'm sure STL fans are very disappointed.
:slap:lol

Defensive eh?

Just saying I'd have expected a little more over the last 10 years. BTW, the Cardinals are one of my favorite teams too, so don't get your panties in a bunch. No one is attacking the franchise.

There are plenty of other teams out there that have also fell short many more times than I would expect over the past 20 years. Like the Dodgers, Mets, Cubs, etc. Hard to believe with the money all those clubs have how they haven't won the WS in over 20 years and obviously many more for the Cubs.

And anyone who claims the accomplishments of a team from before they were even born is a loser that might as well pick the Yankees, Celtics, Canadiens and Steelers as their favorites.

Ah...the ol' 'if you weren't alive when they won, then the titles do not count' argument.

Does that go for Cy Young awards and MVP awards as well? Or only titles?

What about Hall of Famers? Are you allowed to claim them only if they played a certain number of years while you were alive?
:slap

What about college teams? I took classes at UM, graduating with a degree from USF. Am I allowed to claim titles even though they were before I ever stepped foot on campus? Jesus, what a dumb ________ argument to use. That logic makes me ill.

The only people that use that argument are usually fans of teams that never won. Not saying YOU are one of them...but that's usually the case.

But I'll play, using your logic - the Cards have won twice. And yes, I was alive to see Ozzie win(and know what I was watching on the screen).
