Pujols' bad year (.278) >>>>>>>> Bautista's career average (.251)

:lol

Isn't Luke Pujols Albert's second cousin playing at Fort Osage?!?!

:lol :monkey3

Yeah, I'll take Albert not off to his normal start compared to Bautista's last year and a half every time.

He was. I think he got drafted by the Cards. Not sure if he's still in their system though.

^^^ Exactly. Pujols has put up MVP(!!!) numbers for the last 10 years. Has broken more records than ENTIRE TEAMS of players combined, and cemented himself in the Hall of Fame around 3 years ago.

He's a 3 time MVP(should've been 4)
He's...ahhhh, screw it. Here you go:

9× All-Star selection (2001, 2003–2010)
World Series champion (2006)
3× NL MVP (2005, 2008, 2009)
2× NL Hank Aaron Award (2003, 2009)
6× Silver Slugger Award (2001, 2003–2004, 2008–2010)
2× Gold Glove Award (2006, 2010)
2001 NL Rookie of the Year
6× NL Player of the Month Award
4x NL Player of the Week Award
2004 NLCS MVP
2008 Roberto Clemente Award
2003 NL Batting champion
2009–2010 NL home run champion
2010 NL RBI champion

He's been regarded as, arguably, the best player in baseball the last 7 years.

Don't even MENTION Bautista's name or that joke of a franchise in the same sentence as Albert. Albert has taken dumps more menacing than the Blue Jays line-up.. Bautista is having a break-out year. Fantastic. Let's see him do it for the next 10.

Albert, I have no problems saying that he is and will go down as one of the best hitters to ever play baseball. The fact he is just now struggling a bit 10 years is quite amazing.

Yeah, Cards' fans should be extremely upset with having the most World Series titles in the National League, more Hall of Famers than you could count, and an rabid and extremely devout fanbase.

And what menacing rotation do you speak of? lol. The Cards have had a decent rotation for much of the last decade, but it's always been the bullpen that has killed them.

They had a chance in 2004, and sealed the deal in 2006. The Cards have been riddled with injuries this year, yet still are in 1st in the Central.

If competing EVERY year, having 10 WS titles, and some of the greatest players in baseball history is a disappointment, then sure...I'm sure STL fans are very disappointed.
:slap:lol

:goodpost::exactly:

And anyone who claims the accomplishments of a team from before they were even born is a loser that might as well pick the Yankees, Celtics, Canadiens and Steelers as their favorites.

Really? That shows a complete lack of intelligence when making comments like that. I'm sorry my favorite team was around before I was born but I will claim their success as part of the history of the team. I know your favorite team is still a baby but I can't help that. Someday maybe they will be winners but I can't help they've really never done squat.

All that said, having one of the top players in history for 10 years and with a menacing rotation for much of it, STL fans have to feel pretty disappointed in only winning 1 WS.

I'm sure some Stl fans do think that way, sadly. Those fans tend to forget what the Stl teams of 2000-2009 went through with the deaths of DK, JH, JB and all of the ridiculous amount of injuries.

Plus, imo, it takes in insane amount of luck to win in the postseason. Just look at '04 and '06 for the Cards. I'm not sure there were many at the beginning of the postseason that had picked the Cards to lose the '04 WS and win the '06 WS.

As far as the rotation, I wouldn't call it menacing. They always seem to have a decent #1 and somewhat solid #2 for most of those years, but injuries always kills the deal. It's then left up to Duncan to try and get something out of guys like Williams, Marquis, Simontacchi, Weaver, Reyes and now Lohse.

With the amount of talent on their teams, it is surprising they haven't won at least one if not two more titles.

I remember the '04 team in particular as being a real machine. They did have a rough time in the NLCS with the Astros and then swept by the Red Sox in the WS.

Yeah, they were something. Probably the greatest offensive Cards team I'll see in my lifetime.

It's too bad the Cards spent all of their gas on that Astros series getting past Clemens, Oswalt, Backe and Lidge. I would have loved to see that WS rematch without going through the Astros.

MV3 was awesome.

I would also have loved to see home field advantage go back to the team with the best record(the Cards in 2004), rather than give some credence to the All Star game.

That first game in Boston really took a ton out of them.

Pretty sure I'm way smarter than you are, Mr. Failed Teacher still living with dad. :lol

My opinion on sports has little to do with overall intelligence. If you want to throw out SAT, ACT, GPA, Degrees, job accomplishments, life accomplishments or whatever measure you want for "intelligence" I'm game and I'll make you look like the retard failure you are.

Next time stick to the conversation, moron.

Regarding past accomplishments, I'm not saying they aren't worth anything to the team. Rather, to random fans that can pull a favorite team out of their ass it means nothing because any ass hat can go in and like I said pick their team and brag based on ancient history.

Keep thinking that. :lol

You truly are a tool. You call folks losers because they like a team and love and talk about the history of a team and call people bandwagon fans without knowing what the hell you're talking about. Now, you attack me for budget cuts in my school district. You are a winner. :lol

Don't throw out off base comments of people's intelligence if you don't have a clue about anything except his opinion on toys and sports.

I know a few people here that were hit by those budget cuts. Freaking sucks, dude. Especially when there are old farts still teaching that probably haven't actually "taught" a class in ages. :rotfl

@Prog, wow. Now YOU sound like the defensive one. Ripping on a guy's job which he lost because of circumstances not under his control is pretty low.

It is what it is, the guy knows well enough he's made enough off hand remarks about me that he deserves anything coming back to him. Sorry I don't sit around and take direct personal insults from people when we're talking about freaking sports.

Yeah, it sucks. Was easier to cut my salary git rid of the same job the next grade level up and move them down. Agreed! Teacher tenure is as much a problem in education as anything.

Anyways, the Cards next to the Yanks are the best team history wise in baseball as far as I'm concerned. I love my team and I love the other team in Missouri as well. Would be nice to see KC and Stl back in the series against each other.

Go Cards. If the Rockies fall further back, they are one of my other teams to cheer for. Love their history.........:lol

Just to clarify, I'm not saying fans should not like the history. What I am saying is they have no base to BRAG about it as if they lived through it and had to put up with the trials or tribulations to get to the top of the mountain. That's the difference.

Uh, no one has a base to brag about if you wanna be honest, man. We're all just spectators - watching these athletes do amazing things. We weren't there. We didn't do anything but purchase merchandise.

But in my opinion, if you were a fan from the start, you get the good history with the bad. I get what you're saying, but I'll just agree to disagree.

Besides, every punk in a Dolphins jersey loves to brag about the 72' Dolphins, despite not being a thought in their parents' minds about being conceived.
:lol

Good points.

Sorry about your job, Josh. :monkey2:1-1:

Hopefully things turn around soon and you're back in the game.
