Many are embarassing themselves over TSA pat-downs

From what I hear, the radiation is equal to about 2 minutes of flying in the plane itself. You're going to be radiated while flying anyway. The reason they put the vest on in the dentist chair is because its a focused beam at close distance.

Nobody cares about the radiation. It is a privacy objection, and the outcry is loud enough that they'll likely change the rules.

I think this story is also the work of the TSA

Fake doctor jailed for giving breast exams in bars

No, that was me. LOL. Just read the article. It was a tranny. Just out of curiousity, why are trannies so creative they change their whole body chemistry and body parts, but when it comes to names the best they can come up with is to go from Kristopher to Kristina? Come on people.

If someone wants to rub me down, go for it! Most action I've seen in a long time. :D

As for cavatiy searches, I'll make sure I eat Taco Bell before taking a plane ride. :)

Seems to me that if some of you are really worked up about the invasion of privacy, then you should have every bit as big a complaint about whoever shot these videos as you do about the searches. And if you don't, then your argument contradicts itself and your credibility is negated.

First, the video was shot by some random schmuck in line ... not the government. We don't have control over what people do with their cell phone cameras ... we supposedly do have a say in what our government does on our behalf.

Second, if people are angry about excessive governmental searches at airports, why should they be equally angry about a cellphone video proving their point? What you have then is a system where people complaining about privacy violations cannot give evidence of those invasions without falling prey to the "well you're not complaining about the video of the government rectal exam as much as you're complaining about the government rectal exam itself ... hypocrite!"

Third ... the boy was undressed in public because of the TSA. The video just shows what was already happening. There is no policy to complain about with regard to the cellphone camera ... it is not policy for every individual to be taped with a cellphone camera while being screened. It is policy for everyone to be searched by the TSA. While the former may be objectionable, it was not sanctioned by anyone other than the guy with the cellphone. These are not equivalent offenses ... and the fact that any perv with a cellphone camera can now video kids being undressed and women being felt-up proves the point to an even greater degree.

You hear correctly :). I am good friends with a radiologist, who is very familiar with the scanners being used by TSA, and he confirmed that the radiation levels in the scanner pale in comparison to what someone would receive in-flight on a cross-country flight.

Also, I want to make it clear that none of my comments are meant to imply that I either approve or disapprove of the scanners. I am only trying to counter the level of histrionics that some are employing, since that does nothing to further the debate.

No one should care about the radiation levels, but someone in this very thread brought it up as further evidence of how evil the scanners are. And, I have heard at least two inaccurate reports in the media, also claiming that there is a high level of danger from the scanners.
