Re: Hot Toys 1/6 Punisher 2

I don't know how anyone looks at this and DOESN'T see that it's a modified MK3 chest...

Those pictures are valid and do look convincing.. I just don't see why HT would make this, other than just because and since IM is probably still they're bread and butter line. To me it just makes more sense to be a new Punisher from s2. We shall see.

I do hope you guys that are excited for this get your Punisher War Machine. It will definitely look cool, but not something I'd ever be interested in. I'm also not interested in any Netflix figures, so really doesn't matter to me. I stopped watching those after Defenders and Punisher Season 1. I think I will watch The Punisher season 2 though. Eventually.

I'm a Punisher fan from when he became popular in the Mike Zeck mini series from '86. I own those and many other Punisher comic books & Graphic Novels form the 80's and 90's, all bought for cover price way back when. I also have a cool Mike Zeck Punisher limited B&W Art Portfolio and some posters. I even owned a copy of ASM #129 for several years, but parted ways with it in the early 90's. I stopped buying comics in like 2000 I believe. Have boxes and boxes of em.

One word: Economics.

When Hot Toys makes a figure, they have to produce molds (for hard parts) and patterns (for soft goods like clothes).

Engineering a figure like the Warmachine MK3 takes a lot of time (figuring out how to make it articulate the right way, look good, which parts will be plastic, metal, etc) and money (Paying the designers, and creating the molds, which is not cheap).

So they do all that, and let's say their cost per figure is now $200 (cost to license it, design it, create molds, the materials, painting, etc). They sell it for $300, and that's a $100 profit.

Now if they can find a way to REUSE those molds, like for instance a repaint, well they don't have to pay for design and mold creation all over again. So they can create a new SKU, and now their cost per figure is $100 (just the materials and painting, etc).

Obviously I'm pulling numbers out of my ***, but the point is that yes, while Iron Man is still hugely popular, ANY time they can resuse assets works in their favor. This whole "concept" line of figures is likely music to HT's ears, because it allows them to do exactly that. Break away from the restrictions of "screen accurate", re-use some existing parts with a few tweaks, and offer us "what if" figures from the MCU.

Hot toys made a Tron Iron Man that has nothing to do with the movies. Why wouldn’t they make a Punisher War Machine? Printing money $$$$$

I think Apple pays $190 per phone to make their most expensive Iphone.

I wonder what it cost HT to make their HB!

Given how long it took to develop that figure, I wouldn't be surprised if HT lost money on that first release.

Ehhh, would have preferred a Season 2 version as I don't think the Daredevil version was that great, in comparison to how great other figures were that year it seemed rushed in comparison.

Will pass on this, very easily. would have snatched up an actual S2 Punisher...

Wait, do we know for sure which punisher this is? I thought it’s all speculation so far. I agree tho, I’d buy season 2 punisher in a second.

We know it's a repaint of the mark 3 warmachine armor, and we know it's VERY unlikely that season 2 of Punisher crosses over with the movies to the point where Frank somehow comes across (and I assume repairs given the events of Civil War), Rhodeys old armor. The movies and shows have an increasingly estranged relationship, and this would require some VERY direct explanation.

We also know that Netflix is currently dumping their slate of marvel shows for whatever reason, and Punisher is up next, but they won't announce the cancelation until the season has been out for a few weeks. So I wouldn't expect HT to bother getting into any more Netflix show toys.

So it’s just another iron man with a skull slapped on the front? :(

Yep it is

Re: Hot Toys 1/6 Punisher 2

Eh, while I understand the logistics of WHY they are trying to get more money out of the Mark III War Machine,
I just don't get the need for this to exist. Especially when there are several prototypes of figures that could have and SHOULD have
been made for actual characters that we don't have.

Not to mention a lot of ones that are still missing (Nebula and Mantis come to mind).

Oh well. I am sure there will be plenty of buyers for it, regardless. I just won't be one of them, lol.

Re: Hot Toys 1/6 Punisher 2

This isn't an if/then equation. Them doing a repaint isn't taking the metaphorical spot of a new figure like Nebula. This requires almost no additional development time for HT. They have the molds (and possibly even existing overrun parts from the first release).

Some different paint and box art (and likely casting a new chest plate without the arc reactor window) and that's it. There's no reason for them NOT to do it. Their burden of return on investment is very low for something like this.

Re: Hot Toys 1/6 Punisher 2

I would've bought a second Bernthal Punisher easily - I can't get enough of his portrayal. Absolutely hate that S2 will likely be the last for his show. When I saw the topic that was my first thought.

No interest in an IM/Punisher mash up, though.

Re: Hot Toys 1/6 Punisher 2

I'm not very familiar with the War Machine Punisher Comics, but I think it would look cool.

Here'a random custom I found on the internet:

Re: Hot Toys 1/6 Punisher 2

Why release a war machine punisher?

For money of course. Nuff said. :monkey3

Re: Hot Toys 1/6 Punisher 2

Is war machine a punisher comic or something? Is it some sort of iron man/punisher fusion concept? I feel like punisher loses the vigilante charm of a man who goes out to seek vengeance and is just really pulling everything off well. Instead he is given this iron man like suit to fight super villains I suppose? Lol

I do agree that most people will pay for this.

Not I...not....I......lol
