While yall talkin' about another stupid Muhvel movie I watch Exo-Squad. :rock

Funny how silly TV cartoons from 90's are way more mature than blockbusters from 2010's.

I think I am just getting too old for this ****...

I thought it was.... Ok... Nothing special.

I thought the action was awful mostly due to some of the worst CGI to grace the comic book movies.. But I could look past that if the main story really grabbed me.

What I did like was the cast. Black Panther's Bodyguard lady being my fav. I thought his Sister was really fun and of course Micheal B Jordan was great (bit in the film far too little)

As for Black Panther himself... I thought he was more interesting and Better done in Civil War.

Some of my feelings may have to do with my lack of interest in the comic character. Much Like Dr. Strange I just don;t know much about the character and was never a fan when reading the comics.. So the films had better be really special to keep my interest.. Neither film really did that for me.. It can be done as I was not huge Cap or Iron Man comic fan but some of those films really were great.

For me a big let down was the action.. It was filled with so much average CGI I found the action unexciting... Add that to the fact that the action was unimaginative to me and I just had trouble seeing the film that so many others seemed to have seen.

I have other issues but Black Panther being uninteresting and the boring action really made this more middle of the road Marvel to me..

I could also be having Marvel Burnout.. I don't know. I hope not :(

Sounds to me like you kept wanting this to be a standard action film and never quite found that movie. It's not. There's more heart in Coogler's story than action. It's a character piece first and foremost and an introduction to a world. Action is secondary yet still very engaging.

The scenes that define the film are BP& Killmonger's scenes inside the sacred realm. They pretty much establish just how different these two potential kings are and how their upbringing would influence their rule (Killmonger embracing his upbringing and BP rejecting it).

Coogler's greatest achievement is making both spectrums completely valid and never dictating what's right or wrong, allowing the viewer to make up his/her mind.

Believe me when I say I was not going into this film looking for a standard action movie. I read enough reviews here to know what to expect. I did not find the story all that engaging.. So I ended up hoping for some good climatic action to help give this film a bit of excitement.. It failed in that respect also for me. I went into the film expecting a more engaging story. As for the film being a character study.. I did not find that it was successful with its main character.. The villain a bit more and he was the best part. But Black Panther himself... I just did not find him that interesting. I love the actor playing him but I just did not feel he got enough to do to keep me engaged.

Also when you get to the final battle between our two main characters that is a Fist fight then the action should hold up.. But the bad CGI hurt the final confrontation... I would have rather seen them debate verbally back and forth then what we had to see on the screen.

If just did not grab me like it obviously did you... I was not all that interested in BP story.... Killmonger was far more interesting and I would have preferred if he was the main character..

The film is not without merit.. I just did not find it very interesting as a story and I do watch Comic films for some inventive action.. What I got was some cartoon like effects... Nothing memorable at all. If you are going to have a 15min action ending I should remember something beyond the bad effect that ended up hurting the film more then enhancing it..

But its just how I felt about the film. For me it offered nothing new.

I definitely have that.

I think I have Star Wars burn-out too. Everything needs to go away for two years and let me wish for its return.

I agree.... Solo trailer played before this movie and I just did not care. No excitement at all.. Marvel films and Star Wars film use to feel special.. Not anymore.

Better made films would help with the burnout problem also.

Just because we cannot compete with the BBC doesn't mean we can't be Jon "Chad" Hamms.

Alright, alright, that was the last one, I promise.

I'm currently going through the Priest run again to wash off the taste of "Black to the Future II" (no, I'm not memeing, that's the actual title of the story) and Intergalactic Empire WaKANGZda (with a new #1 coming this year) from my mouth, and it got me thinking; what antagonists could they use for PtII? "White Wolf" has been kinda used already, but you can just say that due to Hunter being the only white guy there, the kids call all whites "White Wolf". You can work around it. Hunter's the Loki to T'Challa's Thor, so it'd be a shame to erase him completely.

Then we have... Achebe? You could even bring in Brother Voodoo if you go into Mystic territory.

(To this day I don't understand what was the point of taking Yuropoor Mordo and blackwashing him, when Ejiofor would've been a terrific Jericho)

Pair him with Kraven and you've got a solid group of antagonists, if you turn Nakia into Malice as well.

In all honesty, we need more Priest and less Hudlin/Coates.

Although the most logical thing to do, if it's feasible, is to tackle Namor.

Is namor wakanda's worst villain? Why does he want to destroy it so bad? I know the guy is a **** but yikes. No wonder disney is so hesitant on putting him in.

He was kinda brainwashed from the Phoenix at that point. Last time they talked, Namor and T'Challa were on good enough terms, but after the flooding things changed. It's just that thematically, it makes sense. Namor's a pretty boring character to be turned into a protagonist, so making him the antagonist to a BP film makes sense. You could do a cool political thriller-esque flick with some cool fights with them. Then reveal Doom was behind everything in the Post-Credits scene or something.

This movie would have been more exciting if part of it took place in a place we can relate to.

It would have been neat to have an outside threat to Wakanda and the Panther took a small crew out into the world for their first time. Some fun fish out of water stuff, especially with the young girl who was BP’s Tech Inventor. Commenting on how the outside world is so primitive compared to what they have in the jungle.

And then, they bump into, and carry on with, one of the Avengers in an extended cameo. Ant Man or Dr. Strange. Someone with very different abilities than BP.

At least you went. After being so excited about this film I finally figured out - after reading a lot of reviews and comments and outright spoilers - this isn't a film I wanna pay to see. The CGI alone bothers me just from watching clips. Like I get the impression that there were things that Coogler didn't care about - because he was gonna tell this drama and make his statement and that's where his emphasis was.

For me it's just not the movie I wanted or expected. And there's other stuff - besides the critic and audience emotional tidal wave and hype - that are irritating. Am sure there will be some things I really like when I do get around to seeing it at home, but my interest eroded away.
