Another 65 mill weekend and it has made 900 mill :thud:

That's insane for a relatively unknown new superhero.

If it does well in China it will make over a billion. Still, most of that 900 mill is domestic (500+), which is not good for the sequel. Clearly international crowds are not embracing it as much, but still better than Antman.

Every once in a while there is a movie that just seems to hit more then just one demographic... Titanic was one. It had the love story for the woman and the action / disaster for the men... Black Panther appealed to all the comic book fans and brought in the Black demographic also.

Personally I am shocked it is doing this well since it is based on a little known hero.. But the black population seemed to have been so ready for this. Which is great for them.

I really don't think that had this been the same movie but based on a little known white hero that we would be looking at the same numbers.. I could be wrong but while the film is better then Dr. Strange.. I think we would be looking at the same type numbers as that film.

What are your Top 10 favorite movies based on Marvel comics (MCU, FOX, SONY, UNIVERSAL, New Line Cinema, LGF, etc)?

For me its:

1. James Mangold's Logan (2017)
2. Bryan Singer's X2: X-Men United (2003)
3. Joss Whedon's The Avengers (2012)
4. Anthony and Joe Russo's Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014)
5. Bryan Singer's X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014)
6. Matthew Vaughn's X-Men: First Class (2011)
7. James Gunn's Guardians of The Galaxy (2014)
8. Ryan Coogler's Black Panther (2018)
9. Tim Miller's Deadpool (2016)
10. Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 2 (2004)

You are a way bigger fan of the X-Men movies then I am.. I think only Logan and X2 (maybe) would make my top 10.

Oh and I just watched CW again.. I get what you are saying. While I don't find any of it laugh out loud ridiculous as I think the debates are something that would take place in a real world full of Superheros.. There is something lacking in the film due to its lack of real consequences. Of course that is the problem with most Marvel films. Other then GOTG has any Marvel Universe film had real true consequences to characters we like?? I mean at first I would just say it was just GOTG 2 with Yondu's death.. But James Gunn just confirmed that Groot is really dead and that the new Groot more like his child and not a clone which seems to have upset a lot of people. At least now Groot's sacrifice means something. Hell I would say BP suffers from the same issue. But it seems to be the Marvel way. Man someone has got to die in IW.

Either way I did not find the drama any greater in BP then in CW. Perhaps a bit more original type drama but not any better. But I will say much of that has to do with what I said before.. I got to know those two characters in CW over several movies so I was more invested in their final outcome.

Ironwez comes here to be mad about people saying negative things about the movie
Yet I have not seen one single post of ironwez actually discussing the movie at great length like Jaws, Junki or Khev has done, Not even the way Snikt has done.

Whats the deal bro... you keep showing up here to get mad at anyone that had problems with this, but you have not actually joined in conversation with snikt at all.
seems like you are just continuously bashing people but not actually defending the movie. you should join Snikt and you can form a super duo

Ironwez and Snikt against the world, has a nice sound to it.

I did discuss the movie tho lmao. Me and snikt have been agreeing this whole time . Which is rare.

This is hard for me but if I had to choose

Spider-Man 2
Xmen 2
Iron man
Spider-Man
Xmen
Avengers
Homecoming
TIH
Deadpool
Black panther

There was someone on CNN this morning saying that in 2017, 52% of ticket buyers were people of color. I'm not sure about that.

Love that you have this on there... Film gets so little respect.

It really is under appreciated I think it’s the best hulk out on film to date. Now he’s just some big green ape like monster. In TIH he was a savage ruthless monster. The final battle at the end is underrated.

I'd give TIH more of a pass if the CGI for Hulk hadn't looked like s*** even by 2008 standards. Otherwise I (more or less) love all of phase 1 with the exception of Iron Man 2 - a real turd of a sequel if ever there was one.

First Class and DOFP are CBM staples. The drama those films achieved using Marvel lore is simply superb. They did exactly what CW couldn't via real weight and teeth and narratives that weren't melodramatic and simply forced.

I laughed when Tony and The Avengers argued about the bull**** accords. I cried when Stewart/Xavier communed with McAvoy/Xavier. I cringed as Cap's voice read out loud the letter he wrote to Tony. I got chills when Erik told Shaw everything he was saying was absolutely true "...but you killed my Mother.".

Jesus is that updated box office number for real lol

Blacks have truly spoken with their wallets.

Maybe but also the holdouts like me are probably showing up and doesn't look like much else to see. I was gonna go but my fav theater wasn't half empty like I was hoping for e.g. don't feel like dealing w. any kind of crowd for this one. Some posts I read said that people had to make sure to do a lot of repeat views to prevent a big BO drop. I don't know if people would really make that kind of effort.

I have the opposite reaction - not gonna trash the X-Men films but - different strokes. Just sayin'. Most of the MCU films I could watch over and over.

Which movie is better?

Black Panther or Get Out?

Which one has better commentary? better representation? which movie ?
