Lol dude, it depresses me that you actually bought anything CW was selling. I laughed during the parts that aimed to be serious. This is coming from a guy who WORSHIPS TWS.

In the words of Jodie Foster: "CW is a movie that pretends to be dramatic whilst depicting no real drama whatsoever.

BP had real drama. The fact that you missed it surprises me.

What you have with BP is a film with some good to great moments as well as bad to awful ones... I think its why you find people saying that they did not hate it... The Drama effected you in a way that it did not really effect others in that you let it overshadow the other weak parts of the film.. That is fine.. Its why you love it so much.

Yeah, man, I think like Junkion you missed the point of the film hence why you failed to make an emotional connection with all the themes and dramatic beats.
I suggest you rewatch it and try to see the film through the parallel between Erik and T'Challa. Maybe there you'll find the message Coogler was trying to convey to you, instead of focusing on just the action.
.

Obviously you also missed the parallel between Tony and Steve. Maybe there you'll find the message the Russo's were trying to convey to you, instead of focusing on just the lack of an actual war. ;) ;)

I tease.. But the "you just don't get it" argument?? I guess I didn't get TLJ or IMIII either.

This is not an action movie

Well then there should not have been any action in it as it is painfully obvious that Coogler did not care and the film would have been better off with a less of it.

BP is a story of two men who want to be king. They are both deserving yet they are both lacking something crucial to properly rule Wakanda: each other. Via their rivalry, they will both grow and learn that there is more to the throne than just that which they bring with them from their respective pasts.
Killmonger couldn't embrace anything new, and in not being able to T'Challa learned to.

^that's Ryan Coogler's
Black Panther
.

All that bull**** you listed in your last post is irrelevant.

You can ignore all the other stuff because you loved what Coogler was selling... But that does not mean the other stuff was not a major black eye on this film for other viewers of the film..

We just have different things w are willing to accept in this film.. Nothing wrong with that.

I can’t speak for Khev or JAWS but I definately don’t think BP is a bad movie.

Certainly better than DS that’s for certain.

Much better then Dr. Strange and Thor 3... I would say its a little better then The First Avenger... For me It suffers from a lot of the same things that film does.

If I hated BP I would have stopped posting in this thread long ago. As Clooney said in From Dusk Till Dawn "I may be a ******* but I'm not a ****ing *******." ;)

The cast in this film was awesome. With a lesser cast this would have been no better than the SW PT but they all elevated their respective scenes on the strength of their collective charisma and talent to the point where it actually felt like a decent flick for most of it running time. So kudos to all of them for that.

Agreed... This film had some things that were up there with the best that Marvel has had to offer.

But it suffered with some low points also.
I just couldn't help but feel like the film was a let down because it's moments of greatest weakness were sadly those that should have punctuated the drama the most.

Perfectly said..

And perhaps that is why I liked CW better as a drama... IDK... But it had two characters with two very different points of view. Neither was 100% right or 100% wrong.. But because the film had the advantage of having so many other films to set it up I felt the drama and conflict between the two characters ideas much more realistic and compelling.. Add that to a brutal fight at the end (Funny enough that it had nothing to do with their ultimate ideas and came down to straight up revenge) and you end up with a film that I found dramatically more fulfilling and way more exciting.

BP tried to put all that in the final hour of the film... If not for Jordan's awesome take on the character I am not sure it would have ment anything to me.. It should have been a conflict that they were pressing from the beginning and not something thrown on for the last hour. KM gets little to no screen time in the first hour and The two main characters share about 15 min together total together.. Add to that that the final conflict is an AWFUL CGI fight fest between BP and KM and you have a film that failed to grab me dramatically like it did snikt.

And all of that is fine of course..

I think Coogler, as good as he is in getting a message and idea across is not a great action director. Creed was good, but it was a boxing movie. Put two guys in a ring and let them beat the snot out of each other. Black Panther is a comic book movie where the action should have been off the charts especially after CW, but with it being a Coogler movie it was message first action last. Not that it's a bad thing, just unexpected for a comic book movie.

Killmonger needed more screen time then. We needed to see more of his lufe and how he learned of wakanda
We needed to connect more deeply with him.
If anything maybe claw should have been cut out of the movie and just make killmonger the focus.
Most people forget about him until claw is rescued.
They kinda dropped the ball with him.
The movie is ok as it is but part of the pronlem is that not only do u forget about him but when he wins in wakanda his time as king is too quick. Feels like he is king for one day.

Scar in lion king was handle a lot better. His presence in lion king is a lot stronger and his failed reign has much more impact. You see the jungle decay.
Killmonger was ok but he didnt feel as much of a treat as he needed to be

Hmm I made my point about the Cap and IM relationship in my last post before reading this.

Basically I agree.. Even though I loved the Klaw character there was really no reason for him as he just took away time from KM.. More KM would have helped this dramatically for me for sure.. Might have been able to ignore the bad action and CGI that way.

:lol

No hating here, I just find it odd that people feel compelled to draw attention to plot holes in BP when every MCU movie before this has had its fair share of plot holes too.
Thank you! This is what I’m saying. All mcu has more of not worse plot holes than this movie.

Ironwez comes here to be mad about people saying negative things about the movie
Yet I have not seen one single post of ironwez actually discussing the movie at great length like Jaws, Junki or Khev has done, Not even the way Snikt has done.

Whats the deal bro... you keep showing up here to get mad at anyone that had problems with this, but you have not actually joined in conversation with snikt at all.
seems like you are just continuously bashing people but not actually defending the movie. you should join Snikt and you can form a super duo

Ironwez and Snikt against the world, has a nice sound to it.

Yeah but not usually by the positive people like jye and Khev. I love how jye didn't point out a single plot hole in Ragnarok or TLJ yet he's tearing this film to shreds. :lol

Jye genuinely [depressingly] liked TLJ.

Another 65 mill weekend and it has made 900 mill :thud:

That's insane for a relatively unknown new superhero.

If it does well in China it will make over a billion. Still, most of that 900 mill is domestic (500+), which is not good for the sequel. Clearly international crowds are not embracing it as much, but still better than Antman.

I do appreciate that you actually debate in here and give opinions and analysis in great lengths, Unlike SOME other people..... :slap
You make us practice and polish our debating skills. so thanks bobby.

What are your Top 10 favorite movies based on Marvel comics (MCU, FOX, SONY, UNIVERSAL, New Line Cinema, LGF, etc)?

For me its:

1. James Mangold's Logan (2017)
2. Bryan Singer's X2: X-Men United (2003)
3. Joss Whedon's The Avengers (2012)
4. Anthony and Joe Russo's Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014)
5. Bryan Singer's X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014)
6. Matthew Vaughn's X-Men: First Class (2011)
7. James Gunn's Guardians of The Galaxy (2014)
8. Ryan Coogler's Black Panther (2018)
9. Tim Miller's Deadpool (2016)
10. Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 2 (2004)

Most seem to agree that 2014 was a stellar year for cbm's and for very good reason.

2014 was definitely a good year for the MCU in particular, especially after 2013 which gave us two phoned-in filler sequels with IM3 and TDW. TWS and GotG1 are easily two of the best in the MCU.
