I enjoy movies of all genres and tones. A good comedy is a good comedy and can trump a more "serious" flick if the serious flick drops the ball in execution. I'm not saying that BP dropped the ball on all levels because it didn't but it definitely faltered enough that I can easily say that Ragnarok is the superior piece of entertainment.

I agree on so many levels lol

Question for SNIKT:

A few months back you touted "Joe Dante's Gremlins 2: The New Batch" as one of the Top 10 greatest films of all time, far superior to countless celebrated classics. What was serious and inspiring about that film in your mind? Was it when Gizmo took matters into his own hands after being pushed too far? Or was the film's poignant messaging hidden deep within the many nuances of the gremlins' show stopping musical number?

honest trailers just made fun of Logan in their oscars video :lol:lol

how will snikt ever recover???

People against mature, serious takes on these characters are naturally annoyed at the prospect of films like Fleischer's Venom & Goddard's X-Force and still to this day are almost in a weird way upset with Mangold for critiquing the mostly soulless MCU via the Academy Award Nominated Logan.

Now that Coogler makes a truly inspired and heartfelt character piece IN the MCU, what do they do? They tear it apart.

I think to this day, despite ceiling-breakers like TDK & Logan, there are people who still just want these movies to be fun and lighthearted (and mostly forgettable).

I just want a good to great film... I don't care what the take is.. I just want something that I can enjoy. If its Drama, Comedy, Horror.. etc.. I don't care. A film being serious does not make it better then a non series film if the lighthearted non serious film is the better movie.

I love a serious Comic film (TDK) as much as a fun one (TWS). What put both of those films above BP for me is that they succeeded on all levels of what they were trying to do. The action was there when it needed to be as well as the drama.

That is not to say that every film has to be perfect and can't have "missteps" I still love Avengers but its not as well made as the above mentioned films.

However what keeps BP down for me is that not only did it not succeed in several moments but it offered some of the worst things I have seen in any MCU film.

If BP had a CA vs WS type street fight instead of the goofy ending we ended up with then I would rate it much higher.. As the action would have honored the drama and the two characters. I would still have had issues with parts of the film but an ending can make or break a movie and for me the last 15 min had me rolling my eyes far too often.. Took me right out of the movie. The action did not honor what came before and ruined the drama that was established.

Anyways I am off to see Death Wish :)

Sorry Snikt. But Venom isn't going to be the movie you think. It's either gonna be the in the MCU or be pg13 and have little to no venom. That teaser looks absolutly boring.

Heres something interesting

a lot of people and Snikt are praising this movie for the storytelling and the relationship between Black Panther and Killmonger, and the conflict between them
BUT
seeing how much this "Borrows" from Lion King and also from macbeth

Shouldnt the real praise go to William Shakespeare or the Director of Lion king? Why is snikt giving so much praise for something that William Shakespeare did hundreds of years ago? and something the Lion King did 25 years ago
so Are we really praising Black Panther and this director? or are we praising the Lion King and Macbeth?

If you think about it, every single thing Snikt has praised are things those other two already covered masterfully

Well I guess that's another thing SNIKT and I have in common because Gremlins 2 is also in my list of top 10 greatest films. :lol

Can't say that I find anything particularly serious or inspiring about it though...

No. No to all your negative theories and you only found it boring because it was character-driven and you mostly like action movies.

A movie like Drive would put you to sleep.

No I didn't. Venom isn't a real deep character. When I think of Venom I think of a crazy monster going after spiderman. Venom isn't exactly a deep character and it would be stupid to try and make him so.

So you want a stupid Venom movie. Gotcha.

but thats exactly what we are getting
:dunno

Watching the Trailer for Venom in theaters was the most Anticlimactic, Most pathetic most uninteresting thing Ive ever seen......
Most people in the theater were like "WTF is this? is this a new Bourne movie?" even when the smile came out and the name came out everyone was like "WTF is this"

nothing of the trailer seemed interesting or exciting or anything,

Unless the next trailer ACTUALLY Shows Venom (even from behind at least) I have no hope for it

Like crows said. It seems like we are getting just that. What is so deep about venom? Nothing. And he's my fav villian. People in my theater were scratching there heads at the trailer. It was so poorly made. Felt like a lifetime movie.

Im still waiting for the new trailer.
If they cant show venom in any of the advertising then it will confirm the 4chan leaks.
the trailer doesnt even show any action

this just might be like fantastic 4 remake in that most of the movie happens in the labs

You guys that didn't get the trailer won't get the film. The End. Watch something else.

Us Taxi Driver/Drive-lovers can't wait to see the first ever CBM about a sociopath seeking peace and wellness via heroism.

Is this gonna be the American version of AKIRA? is that what you mean?

I thought the Venom trailer was great loved his narration had they shown the creature I would’ve been bored.

I think that’s also the direction Mcfarlane is taking with Spawn.
