It’s more important this movie does well than white people “stay away” from earlier screenings to “make room” for black people, given blacks account for only 15% of the population. Unless you’re in the South.

Just got back.

Wow, I never imagined I'd enjoy this movie as much as I did. I'm not going to write a full review until the morning but long story short, for me this is the best Marvel movie since GotG1 and Infinity War has its work cut out for it. Killmonger makes almost all of Marvel's past villains, excluding Loki and Vulture, look like epic fails in terms of character development.

Yep, the undisputed MCU Villains Champion.

Well, I understand the call for whites to stay away only referred to opening weekend, but that's the critical period when buzz builds. Better the movie gains a high profile (and maximises box office) early than be derailed by some well-intentioned but ultimately misguided social gesture.

Who would of thought an unknown such as kilomonger would be the best mcu villain lol

the pic was meant to be that yes, your post is logical, which it doesnt make sense for this premiere LOL
Just like boycotting a black actor for dating white HISPANIC Woman also doesnt make much sense either. you would think fans would WANT EVERYONE to watch this movie this weekend... you would think they would want the opposite, every chair filled

Because what the controversy that I was expecting months ago was "IF you dont watch black panther you are racist" which would have guilt people into watching it. but they went the opposite way which is astonishing

Yes, weird. I can see why they went that way, but it's political correctness (or virtue signalling) gone overboard once again.

Reminds me of The Lone Ranger. There was outcry that Tonto wasn't played by Native American. I personally thought it was more important they maximised the box-office draw so more people would be exposed to the message of Native American dispossession (which doesn't get much coverage nowadays).

Sadly, even with Depp that didn't happen.

Hearing great things and at first was going to wait to see this film but my friend said I will not be disappointed since last year's offerings were bland in the mcu. Going Tuesday with the girlfriend looking forward to it.

Enjoyed it very much. Probably an unpopular opinion, but I liked Shuri a lot :lol

Not an unpopular opinion. She was awesome. Her response to Martin Freeman startling her in the lab was one of the best lines in ALL of the MCU's history. It was both brilliant and hysterical. Her character represented Wakandan privilege, something I'm glad Coogler continued to showcase throughout the film (her line to BP when he took her to Oakland was epic). Letitia Wright is excellent. You should check out her Black Mirror episode (Season 4 finale). She was great in that too.

Not a Marvel fan in general, all the other films with the exception of Ant-Man seem like vaguely actioney wallpaper to me,
but holy crap, Black Panther was fantastic.

It will rule the year, deserves all the praise it will get.

DC, why do you keep hurting the people who love you?

It’s only a matter of time until the regulars begin the negativity train with this one. Once social pressure subsides, I’m sure they will attack this movie.
