was female in 1, became *****, was gonna go ***** again but garrus was too damned sexy. great game, made everyone survive!
If the characters in a game don't seem real enough that you don't care about them, being "evil" is easy. The fact that so many people feel compelled to play paragon in ME is testament to the quality of the game, I'd say.
Anyone and everyone can potentially die. I'm sure BioWare won't give us ALL new squadmates for ME3 though... if I don't get my Garrus, Tali, and Miranda I'll be pretty pissed off.
And Thane and Legion, especially Legion, since he came in so close to the end it felt like they were introducing the character with a plan to include him in the next game. And Thane is too awesome to leave behind.

I'm loving all the new characters, especially Miranda and Samara and not just because they are smoking hot. Not sure how you guys feel, but I'm definitely having more fun with this one, after a while the first one started to feel like a chore.
Miranda is hot but her ass is modeled a bit goofy in some shots.
Agreed, this game is loads better than ME but I hope ME3 is even better than this one.

I think the biggest improvements from ME1 to ME2 were the elimination of the godawful inventory system (I've spent probably hours going through my weapon upgrades in ME1... shudder) and the elimination of the Mako (which was kinda cool but I could not control it for the life of me).
Plus the graphics.
Even on PC I noticed the graphics were far improved. Better loading times, better lighting, higher quality models. And I noticed in parts where there were pre-rendered cinematics mixed with in-game cinematics the transitions were smooth, whereas in the first game it was pretty jumpy.
Not if you like a can with curves.
