I would like 2 know. Which one have the best defensive ability between these 3 and what are their specialty

1) Barrier
2) Geth Shield
3) Fortification

I'm weak in defense so i'm planning to take one of these but not sure which one is better.

This picture of Grunt always cracks me up. He looks so happy - just like a kid who was just promised some ice cream. :lol :lol

Are you a soldier? I know Barrier is good - not sure about the other two. If you just update your armor you should be okay. Make sure you go to the captain's quarters to equip whatever armor add ons you get. And then some barriers/shield upgrades need to be purchased or found throughout the game and then you have them made with the elements you find.

I might use that extra ability for some biotics. I got through on insane just fine without any specialty defenses. But I was also a soldier with fully upgraded armor.

Here's what the guide says:

Fortification - If maxed out: The armor is more resilient and reacts better to multiple hits, increasing its duration
Barrier - If maxed out: Your barrier is nearly impenetrable, shrugging off even heavy weapons
Geth Shield - maxed out: Increased strength enables it to absorb impacts from even heavy weapons. Improved Geth Shield Boost reroutes the shield generator into your weapons power source and can boost their damage for the duration of the shield.

All sound pretty similar - though the Improved Geth Shield Boost (which is one of your two option when you max it out) does increase weapon damage for a period of time although the strength of the shield is not as powerful as the other option that does not affect your weapons.

I started a playthrough on Insanity the other day and I have to say I'm enjoying myself quite a bit. First time as a female Shepard and I'm playing full Renegade so it makes the experience even more interesting.

I'm surprised to find it's not as difficult as I thought at first. I've been in this thread several times so when I got to Horizon I think I must have been well prepared (Reave and Incendiary Ammo were halfway, thanks for the advice people) because it wasn't much trouble at all. Didn't even die during the Pretarion fight.

I have a question though, for those who have completed the option. In choosing Morinth over Samara, does she stay loyal throughout the game or do people die because she can't really be trusted? I like Samara a lot so I'm not going to kill her just to be Renegade if it screws me over in the long run. Thanks.

Thanks for the info. I'm a infiltrator. I've already got incinerate for offensive, that's why i'm planning to take defensive as extra ability.
I'm gonna try insane difficulty for my next playthru. I'm not sure if i can survive using Infiltrator. Any recommendation in which class to take?

Free Mass Effect 2 Arc Projector Weapon Now Available
Written Tuesday, March 09, 2010 by Dan Webb

Available today for free through the Cerberus Network in Mass Effect 2 is the new Arc Projector weapon.

The heavy weapon "ionizes targets with a non-visible laser to ready them for a high-voltage electrical attack."

The description in-game states that "as the lightning-like bolt hits its first target, a sophisticated auto-targeting system paints succeeding targets with the ionization laser, allowing the electricity to take the path of least resistance and arc between them."

Log into Mass Effect 2 and the Cerberus Network for the latest electrifying heavy weapon. Screens in the gallery or below if you wish to check out what it looks like.

I was a soldier - using a maxed out Adrenaline and maxed out Inferno and Disrupter ammo. Also had my Soldier maxed out as well. Was a challenge, but I made it through. Collectors aren't that bad with a maxed out Adrenaline.

Hey Jen did you use squad ammo? Or just the one for Shepard? On hardcore i used the squad version, but im bout to start my insanity run and i'd like yer opinion. Thanks! :wave

I know Morinith can kill you if you try to sleep with her. :lol But that's all I know. Samara does say you will regret it - so who knows if there will be consequences later on (maybe ME3?) I saved a new game right before so that I could finish up with Morinith just to see what happens - but haven't done it yet.

I know this is the ME2 thread, but I went back to continue playing ME1 on Insanity to get some remaiming achievements. I must admit, it's not half as difficult as ME2.

Also, I just got the achievement for reaching Level 60!! :rock

I had squad Disruptor ammo -- but the Incendiary ammo (which is what I used against Collectors) was not the squad version - I used Inferno. I wanted it to have the max on damage. Since as a soldier, I ended up taking out the majority of the enemies. The crew I equipped with disruptor to help take down the shields (when applicable).

I still need about 1/2 of the achievements for ME1. Maybe I'll finally try that on insane. Nice to know it's not as difficult. :lol

Ahh k cool, thanks. I will use this strategy on my insane run and thanks for the heads up on reave. I use it almost all the time after i unlocked it :rock

Reave is awesome! Don't bother using it during the Collector Ship though. Most fights with the Collectors - they stay put, taking cover - only the possessed one moves toward you. Then it's great to use. But on the Collector Ship you are in such a small area that you need to take out those Collectors as quickly as you can before they move up on you. Best way is not to not worry about your team - make sure in the options they are using their best ammo/bio/tech abilities - just focus on taking down the collectors (really try to get as many drones as you can before you worry about the possessed one) Hopefully your team will keep him busy. Best way is adrenaline over and over with inferno ammo and the assault rifle. Surprisingly I liked the first assault rifle you get the best. You can do a steady stream of bullets until the clip runs out. It was easier for me to use than the Battle Rifle.

Also when you are on the suicide mission and need to open the vents best to not worry about reave then too. You got limited time to open the next vent and adrenaline and the assault rifle takes down the Collectors the quickest. A sniper headshot with inferno ammo on the drones will take them out in one shot - but you can lose too much time reloading. Good in situations where you have a lot of ground to take cover and there are no time restraints (like Horizon and parts of the suicide mission). Though if you are an ace with the sniper - that might be a good way to go now that I think about it. :dunno

Besides those two situations, I used Reave A LOT! It helped me make it through a lot of tough situations.

Good luck! :duff

Good advice thanks! :duff yea I think ill stick to the what you said and take out the small fries first. Im just getting my mindset ready for the 2 damn scions on Horizon, cuz that sucked even on hardcore. I was using the battle rifle (3-shot burst) due to the accuracy in my last game, but i hate the lack of ammo and I used the vidicator the rest of the game after i got it on the collector's ship. I'll give the 1st rifle a shot.

Damn k, It'll be a while before I hit the suicide mission on insanity but i'll keep this post in mind when I play through that area. :monkey2 Phew this sounds like its gonna be tough. Gonna have to focus and sit up straight to beat this thing.

Thanks again Jen and reave kicks mighty ass! :rock
