but is it really what you like? or is it because you like Sideshow so much that nothing out there can compare?
So basically you're saying I'm just a blind fanboy if I don't sing the praises of Medicom?

Some people like a company so much that no matter how nice another company makes a piece, they wont admit the better looking piece.

Why does that matter? Are the bragging rights really that important?

What's amazing is the fact that this isnt the usual suspects this time either on the Medi side. I say we just let this drop, we all like what we like. Hey look Medi and SS both make man dollies, now go play. :monkey3:lol

Oh,that's real cute pixletwit:lightsabe. Now you see what Im talking about.I come across with clean post's and I get this:censored

ahem.. someone missed the smiley at the end of the post.. either that or they are off their meds. :monkey3

i see nothing wrong with sideshow trying to make available another popular figure, even though it's an import. it does come after their maul has been sold through. you don't have to buy it if you don't like the sculpt, the price, the packaging or the company. better to have it offered than not have it offered at all. the buyer can decide who what where and how if any. :D

btw, i rate this thread ':horse'. :lol

I would like to see the first shot with an overwhelming amount of flash for the sake of comparison.

If I keep my Boba Fett preorder, he will be my first Medicom purchase--but I still don't think I can spend that much cash on a single 12" figure. I need to save that money for the 1/4 scale line.

My 2 cents:

i was the one who originally found and posted the SS MEdi comparison pics and translated review. i mentioned that the reviewer was japanese and so there might be a bias. i also think he used stock medi maul pics and took his own SS ones for comparison. poorly, which makes the SS one look worse than it is.

in his review he breaks it down into several components like accessories (they have all the same accessories actually, check the medi site, except for the folded arms that medi has, and the extra lightsaber if you have the SS exclusive), clothing , poseability, price, likeness etc. he doesn't really give an overall conclusion because its down to individual choice. it depends which components are most valuable to you.

for me personally, it's like saying a picasso is worth $1000000 more than a monet. how can you objectively judge? they're both works of art. some will say more, some will say less. it's just whether you like it enough to pay the extra. i am and i'll be glad to have another maul. but some of you saying it's too expensive are right aswell, because to you the price component is outweighing the other things, or you may not agree that the other components are that different.

i jsut wanna smoke a big ol' peace pipe with SSF as I'm tired of all this hatred. :monkey2 where's all the love? as the president said in mars attacks, "why can't we all just get along?". criticism is good, even just saying that something "sucks" is a valid opinion. we shouldn't get so peed of about it. i've said some evil things about SS and SSF too, being caught up in the crap.

can't the "elitist freaks" and "medicommies/medikids" respect each other's opinions and be friends again? we used to be one, but somewhere down the line we turned into orks and elves. :peace

Dude,I have seen the SS Maul lit every way under the sun and photoshopped and it still does not look as good as the Medi. Even Maul Fan's photoshop pics don't make it look as good, you can just tell by looking at the Medi that it is closer to what is on film. I can't wait to see what Maul Fan does with the Medi when he gets it, it will be freaking unreal. To me this is a black and white argument with no gray area, I mean c'mon with the price of the Medi it SHOULD and BETTER be eclipsing the SS piece. The SS piece is what it is, a great looking figure(imho their best SW release to date), chock full of accessories at a great price. The Medi may be overpriced to many, but you are getting a much closer representation to what is on film and higher quality. Not to hate and bash on anyone, but look at SS's price for their Premium format, imho that stuff is way overpriced. For the price they charge they better damn well look a hell of alot closer to who they are supposed to be.I'm still trying to figure out who Luke is supposed to be in the pf line and they just ruined Solo and these things are like three to four hundred bucks. Those things are overpriced paper weights. lol :monkey3

All I have to say is the next person that try the imported BS argument should be banned for life since it has been proved many times over that has 0 effect on the price. Guess what Medi Maul is more expensive in Japan then in the US based on conversion.

WHOS THE ORCS AND WHOS THE ELVES ??

in each other's eyes the enemy is always the orcs, and we ourselves are elves. that's what i meant. but it wouldn't really matter - the orcs stank and the elves were fruity. so both of them have sucky points. but they could both fight like crazy.

except me. i'm a bona fide URUK HAI!! Coz they were fudging b a d a s s!!

:uruk-hai

does anyone know how easy it would be to customize a folded arm set of arms for SS Maul?

and i managed to get my medi maul PO in japan for roughly $122 shipped (domestic shipping only). that was from an online retailer. Hardly anyone has him on sale for the actual suggested retail price of ¥18,900 (about $166).

Exactamundo,I think one of the reasons the PFs are not doing so well on the secondary market with an exception to the Exclusives is because of there massive size and them being $100 over priced.I mean c'mon most of the PFs when they come out always drop $100 on Ebay because people aren't willing to sacrifice the shelf space or the cash on these PFs,oh plus they make like 2 or 3 thousand of the Reg. and 1 to 2 thousand of the exclusive.
Now there starting to use plastic and foam and articulation in these things so there no longer statues anymore, these PFs are starting to remind me of oversized action figure's.Which is why I only have a few of the PFs and over 11 twelve inch figure's,they just aren't worth to me collecting every single one except for the ones I like because of the price and for what they are.Don't get me wrong because I still like some of the PFs,my only real big complaint is I wish they would bring the edition size down on them like how they are with the LOTR PFs (now that might make them worth really getting into). So to me it's easier for me to collect the entire Medicom 12" line at $150 a pop and know that they wont loose there value then to buy every single PF that comes out at 300 to 400 a pop and have them loose there value considerably.Like I said don't get me wrong I love the PFs,but I consentrate more on my Medicom collection when it comes to figure's.:maul

Ahem, as for Medis holding their value.. totally not true. I sold a Ghost Rider for I think $90 or $100 after paying full price for him.
