Re: Medicom RAH Alien 2008!

This XenoDwarf® will apparently retail for $200+ USD.

I say wait until Hot Toys unveils their's (which will probably be priced less and will be in the proper scale).

Looks great! I can't wait for the HT version.

I'm with you guys. It's a great looking figure and all, not to mention the accurracy, but unless HT drops the ball and doesn't represent the design correctly and gets more creative ala ALIENS, I won't be getting this one, there are a few areas it could be better and for $200, I'm not going to see it meet that type of value on a personal level with me, unless, as I said, HT drops the ball, in which case I will go after this for being one of the best ALIEN representations.

Re: Medicom RAH Alien 2008!

Same boat, unless HT screws up royally that will probably be the on version I purchase. This looks nice, but the scale (potentially) and price are a deal breaker.

Re: Medicom RAH Alien 2008!

The HT version will prolly be the very last Alien they make, cause they know everyone just wants him and will stop at that.

I doubt that very much, since they already have announced that they do have all the "Alien" licenses.
I'm sure we'll see a Dragon from A3, and the warriors from A:R are a no-brainer, since all they have to do is change the legs from their current AvP design.

I do hope HT go all out on accuracy and give us the perfect Alien figure, unfortunately, that would be a real surprise, considering their extremely poor track record on accuracy...

Anyway, I still think NECA's figure is the most accurate design out there, but I will certainly buy this Medi-Alien. It just is too cool and accurate not to.

I hope HT is taking notes.
There's already two fantastic figures out there. They really need to make the ultimate alien figure if they want my money.

Re: Medicom RAH Alien 2008!

Can anybody get these pictures here any bigger?

There is one with the alien crouching a bit, it would be interesting to understand better how the articulation works... but it does look like a rubber suit. Which is pretty cool in itself. After all, it was a guy in a suit!:rotfl

Re: Medicom RAH Alien 2008!

Yeah, it really does just look like a rubber suit over a very thin frame (fairly accurate). Although it looks like in the crouched shot their is a lot of bunching at the gut.

Even though the HT one probably won't be as seamless looking, I think the poseability and sculpt will work a lot better together.

Re: Medicom RAH Alien 2008!

If it is just a matter of height, it shouldn't bother customizers.

Re: Medicom RAH Alien 2008!

I HONESTLY DONT CARE ABOUT THE HEIGHT, ILL PUT THAT LITTLE CRITTER ON MY COMPUTER DESKTOP.

Re: Medicom RAH Alien 2008!

Seriously...dismissing this piece based purely on height just amazes me.

And not in a good way.

Based on HT's record so far with their Alien sculpts, I think alot of people here are going to be really disappointed if you're hoping for an uber accurate Alien from them.

That is a definite possibility, but being THE Alien, there is some hope they'll recognize what it means to people and really try. However, this is the reason I say at the moment I'm holding off on this one, as others should, but not dismiss it entirely just yet if they're looking for an accurrate ALIEN of this size. For it's price, there are things about Medi ALIEN that leave much to be desired, however, if this ends up being the only accurrate ALIEN in the 12" figure world, then it becomes worth the price, but odds favor an HT one would be cheaper so it's worthwhile to hold out on ordering this one, or at least order through someone with a friendly cancellation policy and hope that HT debuts before Medi ships and you can make your choice.

Re: Medicom RAH Alien 2008!

I guess it would be in HT best interest to release their 14" version of the big chap this year too. Like most of my fellow ALIEN fans said, the price would be cheaper, their version will be larger and more articulation :)D). And I think HT will improve w/this future release; making this figure more sturdy..I hope, but I have FAITH in HT..

But w/the 30th aniv coming up next year, anything can happen. I'm curious to see more detailed pics from the medicom version. And I assume these are just the prototype pics?

Maybe HT will improve on their accuracy.

Re: Medicom RAH Alien 2008!

I truly hope HT go for accuracy, but I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
For the time being, I'm happy with the prospect of NECA's über cool figure and the announcement of this baby.

Re: Medicom RAH Alien 2008!

The problem is they don't need to improve. They had the ALIENS design down accurrately on their 4" snap kit figures, but when it came to the 1/6 scale figure, they took a lot of artistic liberty as many of the departures don't seem tied at all to the construction of the figure. They were successful with the figure only because the overall design still looked like a badass Alien and far more feroscious than the AVP warriors, but with ALIEN, it's all about matching the suit, there wasn't persay an attitude to capture from it, just a look. They CAN get the figure to look right, the question is will they.
