Don't get me wrong, I'm going to get HT's version and I know I'll love it. Even if it is an artistic version. I really like an artistic take on the Alien.
I think their "Aliens" figure is fantastic.

I've already got the Marmit kit and I've pre-ordered NECA's beauty, so I'm covered in the "accuracy" department. I'll definately be picking up the Medicom version as well.

So, as far as I'm concerned, HT can go all kinds of artistic with their Alien.

Here comes the old debate again...

It's a good model, but I'd rather have one that fits in scale wise with my other figs...

If only I had all Medicom figures...

See I think its different if you are a collector of all things Alien, but for me as almost exclusively 1/6 having a 12" tall Alien is a problem. No doubt it looks amazing, but I'd have to find somewhere to display him alone and my wife is already annoyed that I control the office

Atleast you have an office. I have my small collection on the shelve in my den. And my wife will go over the NECCA alien.

Yeah, but just with all things you always want more. My office is literally crammed full of stuff. Anymore, when I get a new figure it means someone else has to be boxed away

Fortunately, I have fiance' that supports my "addiction".

She's even bought me several of the pieces in my collection.

What frustrates me, is with the NECA, and now the Medicom, Hot Toys HAS to finish their line, and like I said, all in time for 2009, the 30th Anniversary. So, I may get them all. Hell with it!
Problem is, I have been reworking my MacFarlane so...it is not a collectible anymore, but my version. It will look better anyway. So that will be four when HT gets their's done. So long as ONE of them is 1/6 scale, I'm good.

I have faith in Hot Toys. They can engineer ANYTHING in true 1/6 scale if they simply want to.

I agree, wait till spring/summer 2009 for the alien. Release the other characters this year and early 2009. Ex: Ash w/removable head and just add skim milk...

And that be the $150 question mark. Hopefully, come SDCC, we'll know *fingers crossed*.

Yeah, I was pretty much stunned by this - MEDICOM's ANNOUNCEMENTS COME OUTA' NOWHERE!!!J*E(*@

I don't know, their company policies and production information make absolutely NO sense to me... they ARE certainly trying to compete w/ the other BIG 1/6 companies, but for figures that are NOT in 1/6 scale, and COST $30 - $50 more, Medicom's going to have problems... their Star Wars and Anime Lines are amazing, but a lot of other stuff is hit-or-miss...
This Alien is impressive, but it won't be $200 impressive unless it's either in-scale or painted miraculously (IF THERE IS, BY FAR, ONE THING THAT I DO APPRECIATE IN THE MEDICOM PIECES, IT - IS - CONSISTENCY!!! THAT's where a ton of the money's going... flawless paint-opps are pretty hard to come by... quality control, I DO appreciate that quite a lot...). Ultimately, though, it probably won't have any accessories, might have a display stand, and might stand just over 12"... that's less than satisfactory. Get NECA's intimidating 18"-er, and gauge on the HOT TOYS version if they get it right (I actually can't see them screwing it up, what w/ the way they've been listening to fans n' responding to recommendations, but there's always a chance...)

Every company's got its flaws, but something tells me HOT TOYS isn't going to make the SAME mistake twice - we accepted it w/ the ALIENS warrior, but if "Big Chap" comes out looking like a scary, insectoid Scooby-Doo, they're in for hate mail out the wazoo, and losong fan support by the Mother-loads...

It usually pretty quite until the figure gets released... that is unless Sideshow imports, which would seem pretty likely. Then we at least might get a good idea about scale, price and what-not.

That's right SSC has released previous Medicom figs ex: Star Wars. So if anyone has those "extra points" from previous orders; I recommend to use them on this figure...

You know what, I've got enough to make this figure dirt cheap and this may just be the occassion. I've been saving my reward points for a figure that I'd like to have but unless I could reduce the direct money I spend on it, wouldn't get and if this thing is $200, this would fit that criteria perfectly because $200 out of pocket I'd never get this, but by the time it goes up for order, I'd have close to that in rewards points and wouldn't have to spend additional money. Now I'm excited about this figure again lol.
