Re: Medicom RAH Alien 2008!

As much as I'd like this to be 1/6 scale (I'd be happy if it was just taller than other 12" figures, even 14"), I don't think scale will prevent this figure from selling. It's a beautiful reproduction (you can barely see any joints), and with all the alien fans out there, this thing will be sold out, and probably pulling $300 on ebay a year later. I just have to decide for myself if I am willing to pay $200, for $130 it would be a no-brainer for me.

Re: Medicom RAH Alien 2008!

If this figure comes in at $200, I think it's best hope for smashing success is if a Hot Toys version falls short in quality or comes out after the Medicom starts going out to customers. Odds are HT would come in at $150 and if theirs is equal in accurracy to this, I think that'll hurt the Medi sales because Medicom's has a few things going against it compared to HT, 1) size, and I don't mean in terms of scale to other figures but simply if it comes down to a Medi 12" or HT 16", I would think most people would want as big an ALIEN as they could get, 2) price, because $200 for the smaller figure or $150 for the bigger seems semi-no-brainer. I'm sure some may still still go with Medicom, I'm just saying if it comes down to HT and Medicom being pretty much identical, I think the points I listed will turn favor towards HT, and as far as I know, only the ALIENS figure has had a fair ammount of issues with collectors and the AVP and AVPR figures have been sturdy and well built and I'm not hearing of issues with the PredAlien so I don't think too many will be scared to go with HT for stability concerns. Time will tell, it's a fun time to be an ALIEN franchise collector though.

I agree with you.
If HT's comes out accurate it'll be a tough contender for this one. Me, I'll probably get them all, I'm a sucka for all things alien...
Unless HT just use the Aliens warrior body with a different head and hands. Then I will simply not buy it.

D'oh :monkey4 I hope not w/HT. Ok so Medicom has it up on their website for an Oct '08 release. If that's the case hopefully SSC will be pre-selling it soon, maybe April or May?

Re: Medicom RAH Alien 2008!

I'll definately go with hot toys version over medicom (especially given the likely price differences). Even with some artistic interpretation (I'm not an accuracy fanatic), I'd rather pay $50-70 less for a bigger figure. I like medicom, but I only own one fig (comic spidey, which is a great fig, but only cost me $90) versus the several hot toys products I own.

I'd likely get both if I didn't have about a half dozen other properties I like to collect lol. I'm more into getting a little something from everything than everything from one source.

See, that's my problem, too. $200 can net me 2 hot toys military figures, with tons of accessories. Also, for $200 I can get the eventual hot toys alien + neca alien.

Man, that looks great. I wonder if Sideshow will put it up for pre-order next week.

BTW, what's Magical Toy?

Re: Medicom RAH Alien 2008!

Just something they say overseas(from a magazine i believe)they did the same thing with the symbiote spider-man.

Re: Medicom RAH Alien 2008!

I miss all of those tubes and stuff that made it truly look not even organic..but almost like a machine at the same time. Nothing beats the original.
