^Yeah, the cockpit is definitely the most complex structure of RAY's design. I wonder if they'll include a switch on the back of the head to open up the panels simultaneously, to expose the water canon. Would be neat if we can fill it with water and squirt it out! :lol.

I don't want it to be a Super Soaker haha.

I think if they do the full Cockpit/Water Cannon it would be the most intricate part of the model.

Plus you got electronics for the "eyes" and on top of that possibly a light up Water Cannon.

I bet there will be a bunch of Ash designed lights on it since REX has about a half dozen extra lights on REX that weren't originally there.

I always hoped his RAY would have a light up Spine just like Isaac Clark's from Dead Space.

Well.. I thought that the ThreeA REX was based off of Shinkawa's designs rather than Ashley Wood's artistic interpretation of REX. All of the lights weren't originally seen in MGS 1 REX (I think), but they were visible in MGS 4 REX (some of the lights might not have been functioning because REX was practically destroyed by Snake in MGS 1 :lol).

In any case, having light-up features on RAY does make sense, since it's an aquatic Metal Gear. And I agree, a light-up spine (along with a light up tail) would look absolutely beautiful :drool. Not accurate, but beautiful, nonetheless.

In MGS4 the only light was the blue nose light. Ash's version has multiple lights added onto the head section. Next to the Miniguns and on the front of the roof that houses them. Also Ash has a blue cockpit light that you can see pouring out even when the cockpit is closed.

The light bulbs that you mentioned are clearly visible on MGS 4 REX. But, like I said before, Snake demolished REX in MGS 1 so it's not practical to expect everything to be operational order (as many of the light bulbs are not working in MGS 4). Ashley Wood seemed to have followed REX's design somewhat religiously, and I doubt that he was given a lot of leeway in using his own artistic interpretation, especially since Shinkawa was highly involved in approving the figure for release. Wood was given permission to use his own version of Snake for the pilot, but I think that's as far as it goes.

The lights weren't part of the design at all in MGS1 and they only added the nose light in MGS4. The extra lights seen on the Ash model are his addition, they never were part of the design to be lights. They were just static sections of the design which he was able to make into lights.

I highly doubt that they were just static structures. To reiterate, there was a long approval process for REX between Yoji Shinkawa and Ashley Wood. Shinkawa had to approve REX because it was based off of his design, not Wood's.

I would say that the most likely reason for why REX in MGS 1 didn't have any lighting, was due to the technical limitations of the PS1. Shinkawa also modified REX's design over time, since it's pretty obvious that MGS 4 REX has a lot more details and textures compared to how it looked in MGS 1.

But in any case, the lights don't always have to be on. You can take out the batteries (or turn off the switch) and go for the MGS 1 "no lighting" look.

I just find it hard to believe that when REX turned on in MGS4, the nose cone only lit up but had all these other lights that didn't. IMO the nose light is the only light in the game, to make it more like RAY with his eyes. Visually, REX is not changed at all from Shinkawa's design, but I believe Ash added in his on lights where he believes they could be made into them. But I would assume the extra lights were possibly suggested by Shinkawa, but either way he approved it.

I get the feeling RAY will look like a Christmas tree.

It would be funny if we there's an MGS 1 remake, and REX has all of the details from the ThreeA design :lol. You know, you might be right about the "light bulbs" being initially intended as static structures. It's sometimes hard to keep track of all the changes of this series. Lights or whatever, REX is fantastic. Seriously can't wait until September/October when it ships out (hopefully by then) :yess:.

If RAY looks like a Christmas tree that would be awesome. I'd put all of my presents under a Christmas RAY instead...... And instead of the Star of Bethlehem, it would be a miniature Liquid Ocelot figure on top of RAY's head......

You just reminded me, will there be a RAY pilot as well? We don't even know if there will be a cockpit. I kind of think it may not make it into the final produce because the head is complicated enough with the mouth and possible electronics but I hope I'm wrong.

And if you remember Koji Pro does want another MGS1 remake and I would very much like the Ash lights on the model. At first I did not care for them but now it just makes REX look more high tech and mean looking.

I can already see RAY being loaded with lights on the leg, back, and possible tail.

I thought REX was shipping from 3A on August? The retailers will be getting it around the same time or a little later.

I'm thankful my buddy used his 3AA account to get my REX with a discount and he will again for RAY :yess:

WOw that thing is freakin huge! If i was to get it, it would be more of a companion figure to REX so i think im still giving it a miss.

But an outstanding paint job may sway me

Rex will be an instant purchase for me. I am passing on the 89 Batmobile for this beast. I cannot wait to have him next to Rex!

My Keaton Batman figure needs a car so I'm getting the 89 Batmobile for sure :lol. I'm more interested in prototype Marines version of RAY with the tail. Hopefully, they'll include the tail as an added part.

Anybody who bought Keaton and doesn't plan to get the Batmobile is an idiot. No idea where I'm putting it but I don't give a ____ I'm still getting it.

For sure, Batman needs his Batmobile.

My apartment is already so small and cramped. No idea where I'm going to put everything either, but I'll find a way!
