Yanov has his painted by a friend and it came out perfectly, I've suggested to him if his friend would take commissions but he never acknowledged me even asking :slap

Is there a place on SSC where we can start a thread to see if a painter would do commissions for all of us? I don't have any problem dropping 100$ to get REX and the minifigs painted.

That would be good for you guys!
Unfortunately it's going to cost an arm and a leg for me to buy it, send it to the US, get it painted and then get it sent :(

Hopefully someone from the UK will hear my plight & do the commission for me

I only have the BAF figure in all the unopened mgs2 figures. I haven't found a complete figure for a decent price

So how many of these are you guys going to buy to give it the right look?
I'm pretty new to the build your own figure/base concept so i don't even really understand what i'm looking at here

You would need at least 4 of these to make it look decent, and 8 to make it perfect. With four you would get a four paneled base. You see the Koto REX base? It would be like four (you would only need to use 3 though to add to the koto base) of those added onto that in a big square with 4 walls. If you had 8 you can double stack the walls to make it more accurate.

I'm keeping my RAY figure sealed as well (in the individual MGS 2 packages). The completed figure is still way too expensive for me to consider.

About the Gundam Bases - you and me both man! :rotfl. I think you just have to get a couple and snap 'em together.

But is there a place to make an interest thread to shop out a painter?

The only thing hurting the Koto REX is it's scale, but it can do 10 times the amount of things the 3A version can do and it comes with minifigs of Snake, Liquid and Fox!

I have no idea, man - would like to know too. I think JackD got his sculpts painted by someone on here.

Four should be the minimum but eight would be ideal. Although you could buy twenty and complete half the size of the room :lol

The great thing about these bases is that you can make them as big as you like as long as you keep buying them up. They come with accessories like catwalks and cranes but I would just not put any of that on and just leave it a bare wall like the game.

I visit my parents on the weekend, and the basement is just about half-empty?! :lol ha ha... maybe I should try something like that and decorate the entire place in REX's hanger.

I'm almost compelled to go sit in a warhammer shop and give the base paint a go myself

By the way, Frank Hunter, I got your invite for the MGS group. It's pretty much dead since no one posts there anymore. But, it makes for a cool-looking badge on your profile :lol. Let me know if you guys want another image instead of the Portable Ops one and I'll change it.

I've seen some boxes that look like the ones you can hide behind in the game at the bottom. Would they work to give it more accuracy or are they completely wrong

Haha kit it out and put the 3A REX in there ;)

Oh yeah I forgot the containers and drums, but the walls don't have anything besides the mechanical design.

yeah, not even sure if the ones i saw would actually work anyway!

I'd be intrigued to see the image of the base you mentioned. I'd probably use it for a reference

I'm still trying to find it, but I did find this. This should give you a mental image of how it would work.

There's like 8 different variations of those Gundam bases the 1 that's the most accurate to Metal Gear is the version 2 or the version 1

I don't need the full version of the base just as long as it looks nice to have them displayed on and it's just not my bare shelf I'm happy with that so 3 to 4 kits is fine for me

There are a few painters on the forum that would probably do commissions. The member Yanov had his friend paint his up and it looks damn great.

Best bet would be to hunt down a Games Workshop model maker painter thingy person.
I know of a guy thats done a republic destroyer for me. Won some awards too. I could ask him if he is taking commisions?
Lives in UK too.
