I'm not turning this into another bash fest, not at all. I've always routed for the next game, but like we used to say... some of us are the battered wives of Kojima :lol

I honestly hope TPP lives up to the hype. I might actually schedule time off right after release, since I don't want to find myself on here during the day and get something spoiled.

I never said he was more important, you're putting words in my mouth.

He wanted an actor with facial acting. I had forgotten that Hayter was a faceless jellyfish :lol

Were never going to agree on it, but Kojima wanted a leading star in the role and threw Hayter away like garbage. I don't think the series is beyond repair and I don't think TPP will do any damage that PW hasn't already done. But it's left the militaristic/partial sc-fi genre and just became a hokey Japanese Anime to me. No matter how dark TPP is being said to be, I'm sure it's going to be ladent with crap straight out of PW.

I used to think that MGS fans were above most of the gaming community, and were the only "thinking" gamers. But with so many people losing their **** over the last two released (MGS4, PW) my personal stock in that thought has dropped immensely. You don't need to absolutely love everything about one particular game and can still be a fan of it. I think fans that can pick apart something they love are usually the best kind. But the other kind that just takes everything in without thinking, are the dudebros we often mention that eat up all the CODs.

I know I've said it many times but I loved MGS4, but I've also shared what I hated about it. As far as I'm concerned, every single MGS with the exception of 1 has some stuff in it that I didn't like.

I'm hoping most of PW story died with Ground Zeroes and isn't really brought up in TPP. I have no problems with PW characters returning though but no need to mention singing robots and such.

I do think Ground Zeroes did a decent job at making some of the PW characters likable and less annoying. Ground Zeroes didn't feel anything like PW in tone, and even the characters felt a lot more human. Hopefully we get more of that in TPP.

I just know the PS4 is in desperate need of games, so I'm anxiously waiting for this, Arkham Knight, and The Witcher, I'm hoping they all live up to expectations.

I'll give you that, the support crew in GZ at least felt like people this time and not just talking pieces of paper. The hardware could definitely take blame for their characterization in PW. I have a love/hate relationship with MGS4. It's got great moments, but then again I hate how much a ****** end of the stick Snake got. Making him too old, too fast pissed me off major.

I didn't mind the age thing, I would have preferred a little younger, and with his iconic beard as opposed to the horrible mustache Kojima gave him but I had more issues with some of the subplots, mainly the whole Johnny/Meryl thing and that Wedding proposal that felt straight out of a Pirates of Caribbean movie. I think watching everything Snake endures and over came at the end of the game was awesome though, it made him go out a true hero which I felt was appropriate for him.

He definitely had the **** beaten out of him that entire game than anybody before in the series. And yes, the whole love story between Johnny and Meryl was the biggest wave of douchechills I've ever gotten from a game.

I have never met anyone that liked the Meryl Johnny thing. I don't think I will ever understand how that made it to the final game. Still love MGS4 tho. I can't decide if I like it or the original better but MGS2 will forever be my favorite.

I'm glad to see so many people like MGS2 here, I was afraid to say anything.

BTW I hate Johnny. I hate him more than anything else. And I hate a lot of things...

It's the misunderstood child of the series. Sure it sucked losing to Raiden for the rest of the game, but it's the most cerebral and thought provoking game ever made.

If you love MGS2, you got a best friend in Ryan since he's the foremost MGS2 fan you'll ever find.

And yeah, when MGS4 came out... I began to really despise Johnny. I didn't mind him in MGS1-2 though, he was the comic relief, but it became over the top in MGS4. In what world, would a woman be attracted to this guy that has so much trouble with his bowels?

No I'm not, I wasn't quoting you on that one, it was just a general statement.

Fair enough.

Hayter will always be recognized as the iconic voice for Snake, just like how Conroy is for Batman. I'd say that Hayter matters as much to MGS as Kojima. Least we forget all of the controversy behind GZ, and petitions to bring back Hayter. A lot of fans are still holding out hope that he'll make an appearance in MGS V.
And the voice actors themselves still hate what's happened; from Quinton Flynn to Jennifer Hale to Christopher Randolph, and a few others. Hayter has to return.

I think you're right on Kief being a one shot Solidus, especially if this is the last of Big Boss's games.

The correct description is obsessive dork. :lecture

Oh man, I used to love that show growing up! I had the privilege of meeting Tommy Tallarico after one of his Video Games Live events. We spoke about a number of topics, including Electric Playground and the Silent Hill series. Apparently he and Akira Yamaoka, the man responsible for the sound design of the aforesaid series, are good friends. :D

Same here! We got to chat for a few minutes, talked about Electric Playground and I asked him if he ever was gonna compose more Spider-Man games. He was such a cool guys and signed my VGL poster as well. Oh, next to him was MGS mainstay Norihikio Hibino. :lol

I agree MGS2 is the kind of game that happens only once in a lifetime. Good to know I can talk about it here, thanks!

Yeah it makes no sense, I used to like Johnny and Meryl... sometimes I wish MGS3 was the last one

It's Raiden day! :fireworks:blissy

Awesome! While I might not have received a signature from that exchange, I did manage to acquire a photograph with the man himself. Although he's not a celebrity in the strictest sense of the word, I was pretty starstruck considering how frequently I watched him growing up. As far as Norihiko Hibino is concerned, I am green with envy! It's a shame that his music has been excluded since MGS4, as it was an important facet of the series' atmosphere up until that point. We also had a few guest appearances available for signatures and whatnot, but nobody comparable to the aforesaid composer.

Yeah, Hibino did all of Ghost Babel, MGS2, 3, the cutscenes for TTS, a bit of MPO and only one track for MGS4. To me he's the best MGS composer alongside the team that did MGS1. I watched him performe Snake Eater live and is a God with saxophones, we had a 5 minute chat or so. He was so polite that he asked another performer what was my name before signing my stuff just to not upset me, what a guy! It's sad that the music for MGSV is really, really poor.

I mentioned I've been playing MGS1 a few days ago. I just got the Liquid Snake fight. Man, the boss battle music in it is still unmatched in the series (maybe Rising is equal to it)
