Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

I actually can't wait until we reach that point, where we get the MG & MG2 remake. Hopefully they'll follow straight up with a MGS1 remake

It was stated over a year ago that Koji Pro wants to pursue a 2nd remake of MGS1 so it's coming... at some point.

And to Kiva's point. Big Boss is so unrelateable anymore. He doesn't even have a goal and he's following the will of someone he doesn't even understand.

Snake has always felt like a real person to me. He's more grounded and philosophical. Snake is the main character, and don't speak of him just as a clone of Big Boss. In terms of developing Big Boss, he's just a copy of Snake.

And in Snake Eater, he was a pawn and he felt like a drone to me just doing what he's been told. And hasn't Big Boss been a puppet since Snake Eater as well?

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

I dont think Solid was ever really that important though. Nowhere near Big Boss. Not story wise at least. We played as him so we could be in the MG world and watch things and stories and people unfold around us. But he himself was always depicted as just a grunt. A clone of Big Boss, who knows little to nothing about the past, whats going on in the present and quite often cocks things up because on face value the " bad guys " plans are evil. We saw with MGS2 you could put anybody in Snakes role (Raiden) and the story would be the same. You go through the entire game taking orders, barely knowing whats going on and dispatch the bad guys as you go along.

I prefer Big Boss over Solid because you get the feel while you are playing as him you have free will, and you will be the one who changes the future and all that stuff. With Snake it gets old fast knowing that you are basically just a pawn. And that you will get jipped out of a Big Boss status of your own because in MGS 4 you are aged 150 and still just doing grunt work.

Isn't that what basically happens to Big Boss in MGS3? He basically has no clue as to what's really going on until the very end. Pretty much the same as Solid at the end of MGS1

If Kojima put a bit more effort into fleshing out the blanks of the Solid Snake story instead of rinsing the Big Boss saga it'd actually make for a more fulfilling franchise overall

GZ and PP do look extremely good though, i'm just praying we are done with Big Boss after this and can finally focus on Solid

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

I'm glad to see i'm not the only one who'd like more Solid and less Big Boss in Metal Gear Solid

I've become seriously annoyed of Big Boss when we first heard about Peace Walker. Peace Walker is without a doubt the worst story of the series.

Best story overall are Mgs 1 and Mgs 3.
i hated Mgs 2 i liked 4 though

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Yes kojima has gone that route its a shame too.

Kojima is a sell out. He wanted to break things up and change the pace of MGS, but he's sticking with Big Boss so what dafaq?

About as good as them aswell

Snake Eater is fantastic, and MPO and PW were pointless.

not sure i can play this without hayter voicing snake.

Kojima is trying to seperate the "Snake" voice from Big Boss and give him his own identity.

I think MGS1 and 2 have the best story, although it's painful to play as Raiden...

MGS3 is great, I thought MGS4 was a bust since they gave Snake such a bleak ending and Kojima has to jerk off in our faces but shoving Big Boss in it.

3 was perfect because it explored the origins of BB and used a location different to the previous urban environments, while still pretty much keeping the exact same main character that everyone had grown to love. The only reason you like BB is because you like Solid. There was very little difference between BB and SS in MGS3.

They should have stopped there and Big Boss would still be cool.

I agree with yea but Mgs 2 is painful to play .i still don't like Raiden hate Vamp and really don't like solidus. it's a bit stupid all those clones of big boss running around .

Sorry should have said everything after MGS3. I only count the original 3 as success'. I prefer 3 to 2

The problem with the telling of a legend is overexposure. It becomes redundant and boring. MGS3 really took a risk making it jungle and it paid off. It definitely was the most daring of the games.

Survival Viewer needs to come back in the MSX remakes.

I never cared for Vamp, I kinda liked Raiden in MGS4 and MGR.

Although I do have a bigger appreciate for Solidus than I originally did.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Watching a interesting video over at ign saying the the 3rd unknown character could be grey fox in mgs 5 but that's probably not true .

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

That sounds good, in MGS4 they were different voice actors so it makes sense, but it's unlikely since David himself says they "didn't ask him" to be part of it, but who knows? Maybe Kojima is still trying to troll us.

I'm mean, David Hayter IS Solid Snake, I can live with the fact that someone else plays Big Boss but NO ONE can play Solid but Hayter.

I think he was contacted, but for the sake of not spoiling the story of the game Kojima wanted to keep Hayter quiet about Solid. Just my theory. :p
