Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

It was the motorcycle chase at the end with Eva, those flying things also appeared earlier in the game when you are climbing up the mountain (after the End and before the Fury)

Yea my bad motorcycle chase, my mind is all over the place at work.

Another one I can think of is The Fear using stealth camo. I don’t think that tech exists today and is much more unbelievable that the hologram map in my opinion.

Harry Gregson-Williams + Donna burke = EPIC soundtrack.

If this game comes out in 2014 it will be the year of SNAKE !!!
I cant stop watching the red band trailer.

OMG ! the music from Donna is just unreal.
All my focus is on MGS5 nothing else matters for me.

Am I the only one that remembers the car chase, with the mass produced Star Wars like hovering Vehicles chasing them, or the microfilm?

1. The hover-crafts in MGS 3 were based off of the Hiller VZ-1 Pawnee from the 1950s.

2. The microfilm was a tribute to James Bond movies that were referenced throughout MGS 3.

3. In a similar manner, The Fear's stealth camo was used as a tribute to the Predator movie.

Those were just some goofy film references from Kojima, because he appreciates a lot of old movies. But, it's nothing as appalling as the advanced singing AI mechas in Peace Walker, or holographic maps or "Batman Detective Mode" from TPP. Those just came out of the blue.

No matter the references those things were far ahead of their time, or really fake, except for the hover vehicle which I knew existed but solders were not using that in 1960s. The stealth Camo is just crazy though.

We don’t even know the reason for the Hologram tech in 5 yet, if Kojima used it as a reference to another movie would that make it okay?

But it was being based on actual technology, we don't have anything close to real holograms. Stop with the constant defending.

Dude, you didn't even know about any of that stuff until I brought it up :lol. Practically no popular movies come to mind when I think about Peace Walker, or the trailers from TPP. What I do notice, is that Kojima is ripping off other games, as he struggles to bring relevance this tired and worn-out series.

:exactly:

The storytelling is very dated and hokey.

I knew about the hover crafts, I read up on it on MGS forums last year man. And I knew the James Bond references as well, what made you think I didn’t know any of that? Peace Walker I’ll give you things got really out of hand, but I still haven’t seen any tech in MGSV worse than the Fear using stealth camo in 1964. Even the explanation for it in the game couldn’t justify it. It doesn’t bother me at all it was in the game, but all the Metal Gears had some really unbelievable tech.

Nope just PW and MGS V.

I think my interest in MGS died with Old Snake in 2008. I'm utterly infuriated with Kojima's recent direction of this series. The guy needs to leave this thing and start another franchise. Or even complete that ZOE game that recently got axed.

I'd rather get ZOE3 since it was going to be a completely new story since the Anubis arc is over.

You seemed pretty oblivious to those facts in the way your questions were proposed, and it made me think otherwise. But, if you say so man... :rotfl

The hover vehicle I knew. I just always got the James Bond vibe from playing Snake Eater but I guess I didn’t know for sure until you just spoke about the interview, I’ll give you that one.
