Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Good God I really dislike Greg Miller, he's such a smug, loud know-it-all. :slap

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

I will admit that I was not as heart broken as the majority of Metal Gear fans, when the news broke that David Hayter would not be returning to voice Snake. I was giving Kojima the benefit of the doubt, and rationalizing that Big Boss was technically a different character than Solid Snake. However, listening to David Hayter on Up At Noon has completely changed my perspective. I knew the Japanese voice actor would be returning to voice BB prior to the interview, but hearing David talk about it was a little heart breaking. He admits it makes absolutely no sense, and I have to agree.

Sorry Kojima, but much like everyone else, I have to call foul on this one. Not only is the excuse that this is a clean slate for the franchise complete bull*****, but the whole thing was done in a completely disrespectful manner. I still think the MGS V trailer is incredible, but I don't know how I feel about the future of the franchise anymore. I will obviously wait to see how the next entry turns out before making any judgements, but I am not nearly as excited as I was before.

David has already cemented his role as Big Boss, changing it now makes no rational sense at all. Big Boss's likeness was more a less a clone of Snake so giving him a different VA in Snake Eater would probably be pretty unnerving.

I understand the rationale to make him a seperate entity to Snake, but too little too late.

Personally, I think Kojima has derailed the series completely with all the games following Snake Eater.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

If he does, it will be Solid Snake he plays.

I never really identified Big Boss as a separate character with Solid Snake's voice.

Me neither really, it's just a shame because without Hayter it won't feel like Metal Gear anymore i feel

The game could be the best game of 2013 but it could have always been that bit better with the inclusion of one man

That's definitely going to Beyond Two Souls :rock

Exactly its like watching Batman the animated series without Kevin Conroy

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

I guess when they say they're having a fresh start with MGS5 meaning noob gamers to the franchise can jump in without having knowledge of previous titles, if MGS4 was the first game I played the story would be bizarre

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Maybe they're just playing it off like he's getting older and his voice is maturing... Especially if they are going to start working Solid into these at some point.

I'll believe it when I see it. Even so, I doubt we will see him even as a child or teen in these games. Maybe at the end of TPP we will see teenage Snake joining the military.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Thats BigBoss. He has that "horn" and its been seen in a few concept art that he'll have a pony tail in The Phantom Pain
