Odd part is even the originals don't really look anything like turtle heads. But the source material is the gospel for these guys. It's just too far removed.

No matter what, these were going to be picked apart and pooped on.

I like 'em. Even ugly Mikey. They've always looked weird without the masks. Even in the Nick Toon they look strange with them off. They were never going to win any beauty contests.

And they rightfully should. Even ignoring the Shrek Jr comparisons, there is still so much very wrong. Mikey wearing a seashell necklace, biker shorts, and a sweatshirt tied around his waste is just the start. They are supposed to be Ninjas, it's in the title. Why do they land like a ton of bricks? My one year old is sneakier than this. Donnie looks horrendous with all that crap on his shell. Has Bay never seen or read about ninjas? This design wreaks of a weak script. And because the writers felt unable to convey their different personalities, by writing them having different personalities, they just decided to use visual neon signs.

Whilst the shot of Leo jumping and landing on the wall looks cool if you look at it again he actually breaks the bricks on the wall, not very ninja like.

You're just being cynical. . .those designs were obviously chosen because they will better ensure that more toys are sold.
