I gather from reading through pages of posts that people are kind of burned-out on the extreme analysis focused on the DX Batman. So forgive me if this is redundant.
When I look at these two pictures, I am surprised by how well Hot Toys has observed the cowl. (The pic on the left is the Hot Toys SONAR head under harsh lighting...the pic on the left is Bale). The DX really captures the shape/proportion/design of the DK cowl very well (in my humble opinion).
Also, though some do not like this mouth shape, I think this is a very lifelike shot:
With the right tilt of the head and some PERS eye direction, I bet all the mouth pieces will have their time and place. I think the mouth options are a creative and unique feature...and not something you can do with just any character, (the edge of cowl disguising the seams and all). Kudos to HT for exploring!

the cowl is not the problem mate, it's the body which is almost like the v1 and still too fat. we had our hopes that HT would make a slim body, but it seems that they are just too lazy to update their body. instead of this, they'll give us just more accesoirces.
when i look at the joker dx, there are so many improvements and so many new stuff. it deserves really the name dx, but the batman? sonar eyes, mouthpieces and a backpack, that's it.

Yes, I understand the central complaint is about the body. The v1 was a bit beefy, but I guess I am in the camp that believes the DX is slightly slimmed down. I realize I may very well be wrong, but my eyes tell me there is a subtle difference from v1 to v2 regarding the "weight".
How skinny would people like the DX to be? When I look at stills from TDK, I don't think Bats looks thin...and I think the v2 looks about right, (the 2 Batmans on the right are v2):
Anyway, I don't mean to be stubborn...I just think this figure looks AWESOME, (even more so in person at Comic-Con), and find myself startled by the degree of dissatisfaction in some posts. I see these DX figures and can't help but marvel at the craftsmanship. The artists behind this stuff are obviously putting an enormous amount of energy into their work, and in my mind that is something to be applauded.

guys check out the prototype for the first tdk suit....see how they made the neck more accurate to the film where it lines upto his headscuplt....son of a ^^^^^....why cant they keep it like it was in the pics !!!!! I totally agree with you. People here who are complaining so much about it without realising how much work hot toys have done to make it screen accurate, are still moaning about it.
And you know what....they are still going to buy it even if they dont like it!
For me, hats off to hot toys they did a fantastic job with this dx 02. I am so much looking forward to it.

I totally agree with you. People here who are complaining so much about it without realising how much work hot toys have done to make it screen accurate, are still moaning about it.
And you know what....they are still going to buy it even if they dont like it!
For me, hats off to hot toys they did a fantastic job with this dx 02. I am so much looking forward to it.

you know, without our criticism on the figures, which you're complaining, you would still have the V1 Joker with the really perfect representation of heath ledger as the joker. but damn, there were just too many criticism about the head and clothes,... and damn users we have now a wonderful piece of art as the Joker DX.
I'll buy the Batman DX, but I would like to have a better looking one. I know that this is hard work and I would never get a figure to look like this figure, but still i give some critics with the hope that HT would change this errors.
And for 200$+ I would like to have a perfect figure and not only 3 different mouthpieces as an accesoire. I would pass on every accesoire if the figure would look just right.
But... we had this discussion now over and over... now 219 pages long, so I think we should better wait for HT and some updates before we discuss this topic for the 2567s time.

Thats fine, if it looks wrong then sure criticise it absolutely. But now they perfected it. The head sculpt is fantastic, the body is a tiny bit bulky but its fine, a major improvement over the muscle v1 version. Better that than making it too effing skinny. Look nothing in collectables is ever perfected, look at sideshow's pfs and 1/6 figures.
They can only achieve the best possible screen accuracy, and HT has done this with the new batman.

YellowJoshua, just out of curiousity, if you were hired by Hot Toys and placed in charge of the DX Batman, what are the specific adjustments you would enforce to make the costume look screen accurate? (Aside from making Batman thinner).
Frankly I'm impressed that the DX costume seems to buckle and wrinkle in places that the screen costume did, (and that the cinematographer hid with his camera placement and lighting). You can tell in these two shots that in certain unflattering circumstances/postures, both costumes bulge slightly at the belly:

1. slim it down
2. modify the arms: gauntlets and hands. they are just toooo big
3. modify the chest-piece
4. modify the details on the armor. it still looks like a sweat-shirt under the chest-piece. it doesn't look a 2-in1 suit. (And for the Medicom-haters here: Medicom looks good
)

Constructive criticism is always a good thing. Anything can always be improved and all that.
I think as a newbie I am just struck by the uneven distribution of complaints versus compliments on what in my mind is a wonderful piece of work from Hot Toys. I just hope Yulli, JC Hong and all of them over there in Hong Kong know many of us are very VERY appreciative of their labors.
(And isn't the pectoral armor too large and bulbous on the Medicom DK for it to be considered a gold standard to be matched? I find it's a glaring discrepancy between the figure and the screen costume).

This is what I would like to see most of all, so that the chest piece can fit closer to the body and not alter the 'flush' line down to the torso.
However, hopefully it can be changed with good posing.

yeah sure, that's why we're buying those figures from them
Sure the figure looks overall really impressive and really beautiful. But it's just their second attempt, they have ALL the ressources they need to make this attempt perfect PLUS there were users who have been sending them so many pictures and modified pictures of their own proto-shots how it should look at the end. just go here through this thread. i know it has many pages, but there were many suggestions here. I don't know if HT will ignore them. It seems so at the moment, but it's better to scream out loud now for the errors on the figure, than after the release of it. we have now a chance to say what's wrong and what's good and with some hope, HT will hear us and do the changes. And I really can't understand those complaints about the criticism. The figure just get better and better through the criticism. If everybody would say 'wooow, that looks awesome. It's perfect', HT would never move their asses to improve the figure and bring the quality to perfection.

Damn Batman is ripped! Look at those carbon plates
Can't get the toy to do that. The torso really needs to be completely flat. I think they'd need to build a custom body, no true type can get that look
